It is sleeting. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here and had dinner with us. Rosalia & Aunt Mary were fixing dresses for Rosalia. Mr. Bill Fritche and Werner Kalamer were trying to start Werner’s machine by pulling it down the hard road. Papa paid Steve Reihnecker for a share on the line 18. He paid $8.00 for it. There is telephone meeting this afternoon in Hecker.

Rain & sleet all day. Telephone meeting at George Wagner’s tonight. Mrs. Nick Schaefer Jr. is sick with pneumonia.

It rained all day & sleeted. Rosalia & Bertille washed today & baked bread & coffee cake. Papa paid Ed Meng for hauling lime(stone) $8.75.
Monday, January 6, 1930
Henry butchered 2 hogs, one from Joe Gregson weighing 400 lbs. Papa & Uncle Fred got it. Emil & Henry got the other from Albert Cleveland weighing 224 lbs. We were all there helping to butcher. Mr. & Mrs. Gus C. Geodelle were also there.

Henry & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here. In the afternoon, Papa, Rosalia, & Bertille went to Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary for supper. On Sunday nite August Blackburn had a dance but we were not invited.
Saturday, January 4, 1930
Papa, Rosalia & Bertille went to Waterloo & we had a punctured & had to get a new inner tube. Mr & Mrs. Peter Watchel from Smithton were also here to look at our new house. On Saturday morning Miss Leocadia Braun from Eavunsville was buried she was killed in a accident on New Years eve. She was 25 years old. Also on Sat. eve. Henry Ronenberg had a dance & chicken dinner & Aunt Mary & Uncle Fred were there until 2 a.m. Aunt Mary and Fred were here Saturday.
January 1, 1930
It rained on Jan. 1st. We had company. Henry & Leona were here. After they left Rosalia & Bertille went to see Mamie Eichenseer.
1929 Recap
We moved to Hecker Oct. 23, 1929. We had 1 week mission in St. Augustine Church from Nov. 3 till the 10. They also had one in Tiptown during that time. The Missionaries priests were Father Kneddy & Siegert in St. Augustine’s church.
Father Grootens got 16 doz. eggs on Dec. 31, 1929 at 42¢. Mrs. Margaret Hinkel & Arther Meadlock were married in St. Louis on Dec. 31, 1929.
