Rosalia & Bertille went out to help at Henrys today we planted onions 5 lb; cleaned up stairs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where planting onions in there garden up here, they had dinner over here. It rained pretty heavy this eve. They are grading the road in front of Parker’s today; it is a real mess. We had dinner over at Henry’s. Chas. Jung stop wanted to buy hens for 8¢, we didn’t sell him none.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile this afternoon we went out to Henry’s stopped took them along, went over to Dan Geodell’s & looked at his wagon, then went to Alois Havey but he wasn’t home either, then came back home again. There was a lady stopped here for 5 doz. eggs. 10¢, & one stopped for 11½ lbs. hens, 10¢, 2 hens. The cars sure driving today, it is nice. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Henry Birkner this evening, wedding anniversary. Bill & Philip, & Mrs. George Freund & Josie; where at Uncle Freds this afternoon. It is 2 yrs. today grandma Geodelle died.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s got a hog. Mr. Caldwell of East St. Louis stopped & gave us a call. Henry came up with load corn, & also to get crushing done. There is so many working out on west road, they have 5 tractors, & mules, grading. We planted some tulips out from Emma Birkner. I seen in the Prairie Du Long news it says, a few from there attended a miscellanoius [sic] shower given at home of Mrs. Dueker, in East St. Louis for the approaching marriage of Miss Lela Dueker to Cyrus Halcomb of Freeburg.

We cooked a kettle of soap again. eggs 9¢. We cut lawn, put out a sign for sale, eggs & hens. A lady around selling extracts again today, we didn’t buy anything. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, her, Rose & Bert went to church. Hy. Wedel Jr. guessed the closest to how many chevs where sold in 1932; the right number sold was 322,860 & he guessed 223,454 just 594 out of the way. They beat was Dr. Werth & H. B. Church. Wedel could either $50.59 radio huts [unclear – ed. note], or $50.00 to a purchase of a New Chev. Hecker had bus here this morning at 7,0 clock.

It rained last night & this morn. Papa took Lizzie Boll to Waterloo, she payed her tax. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, where here for supper, her, Rosalia & Bert went to church. Holy Hour at every church in the world. Schlotamma where at church to. Henry & Leona where at Waterloo to. Chas. Jung stopped in.

We cooked a kettle of soap. Over 11 hens hatched today 86 chicks. Man around selling apples at $1.50 bus. Tonight is church & a bank meeting for all despoistors [sic] of Red Bud bank at the high school there. We all went over to Renneckers, telephone meeting. H.M. Hill & Wagner where the only ones present.

We all went to Belleville this morn, got our dresser, Rosalia & Bert [Bertille] got shoes from Smalls, dress slippers $1.98 R & B work shoes $1.50. Steve Rennecker came over, him & Osie Neff was here when we weren’t at home Osie is going to buy Edwin Walcthels shares on the line. Steve & Osie are running trustee’s on town board. We worked in the garden, cleaned little chick house; Mrs. Bievenue was buried this morn. We went to Strecks butcher & slaughter house, seen them chain, stick & clean hogs, so fast.

We washed, ironed, scrubbed basement, this morn. Papa & Rosalia went to Waterloo took load wheat along & eggs are 9¢, wheat 48¢. Bertille stayed at Henry’s, made a little garden, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where there too, they brought seed potatoes up. Robert was in bed, had a few pimples, thought it might be measles. Wilma Reheis has them. Papa took chickens to the store 54 lbs. 8¢ lb. & had to pay tax on the things what he bought. It is terrible windy this afternoon.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped a little while then went home. We were at home all day & nite, no company. Papa went up town awhile, they told him there that Hy. Emery upset his machine at Tom Crowe’s lane, on the piece of levee there, the windshield was broken 6 pieces, & that if help wouldn’t come just then he would have drowned there, Alois Havey came along there. Mrs. Xavier Bievenue nee Harschmann died this morn, at Red Bud hospital, they took here there Sat. afternoon & today she died, funeral will be Tues. morn, 9 o clock to Catholic church & cemetery at Red Bud. Mrs. Chas. Helfrich has the measles, had the doctor last nite. Mr. Mauer is bad sick.

Papa got crushing done this morn. Roy Stauenfbeil & Ed Meng was here. Papa went to town. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & papa went to a sale by Fults, didn’t buy anything, they took the hard road to Waterloo, Wartbug, Maeystown to Fults & coming home they went to Prairie Du Rocher, Ruma & Red Bud. Papa rode along with them.
