Pap & Rose went after our heifer that got out, in Braun’s field. We went to Belleville this afternoon to church. Hot, it is 105 degree’s here. Philip Kahmer of Lords Corner shot himself this morn, buried Mon. afternoon. Mrs. Stella Wiskamp nee Miller died, to be buried Mon. she was in the hospital 3 mons; went pap was there. we went to see her.

Threshing all day, here for lunch got 218 bus. together wheat (wheat here 72 for 3) & all day out there till 4:30 got (738)1/3 246 share) bus. oats. Boy! some heat. Margaret Mary Myerscough youngest daughter of John Myerscough got the name Sister Mary Angelita. Hy Spalts got baby boy Wed. morn. also Eberhardts nee Katie Keorber last month.

Pap & Rose took wheat 23 bus. to Waterloo from Pabsts got 98¢; best price; we baked cake etc; went out to help Leona this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening. Hy. Armstutz came & got coop chickens, sold to Mertz. Awful hot days. Nic Helfrich brought sacks here, he hauled wheat for Walter Wittenauer.

Rained a little this morn; still pretty warm. Pap took Whip. to Probst’s got it fixed. Pabst brought 22 bus. wheat & 33 oats today.

Baked bread etc. Rose helped pap finish spreading lime dust this morning. Boy is it hot this afternoon, some places it is 118 degrees; that must be some heat; stock is drying, starving, pastures are black, in western states, Dakotas, Missesota. Chris Buehler is threshing. Hy. Armstutz hauled the oats from our ground & threshed them down there, we got 16 bus. our share, put them in Uncle Freds barn.

We washed, ironed. Helfrich hauled lime dust 6 loads 23 ton, Pap spread it this afternoon, & we helped. Lucinda Eichenseer was here selling chances for there pinic [sic] on Aug. 5. Temperature 105 degree’s.

Went early to Red Bud to mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stoped [sic] awhile, had lunch here. Henry & family came this afternoon had supper here. Wagner kids were here awhile. Omer & Bert went to Evansville.

Boy! the shooting in town; terrible way late in the nite. Sure hot weather these days’ 96 & 100 today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Rose went to Harrisonville to Catholic Church pinic [sic], had chicken supper there, & came home. German Band from Belleville played. Free dances all over, Log Cabin by Red Bud, Floraville, Dreamland Palace.

Boy! is it a heavy dew this morn. Started threshing again, at Ganley’s, this afternoon. We went to Henrys had lunch dinner supper; had the thresher for lunch, 243 bus. we got 81 bus. We went to Mason’s from there. Mrs. Geodelle was out but she was sick.

Cloudy & heavy dew this morn; no threshing for awhile yet. Henry & Boys came up made hay; had lunch, put 2 loads in barn & took 1 home. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped on there way home from Belleville brought us sugar & saussage [sic] along. Sun ain’t shining so bright today, don’t dry so good. A lady here wanted to sell foot cushions to wear in your shoes for callouses.
