The Hecker fire co gave a dance last nite at Maniers, had a big crowd. Moonlighters played & on there way home Keim’s driving & his car, with Ben Schilling, Walter Braun, Armin Bectholdt, upset his car, other side of Kemps. Ben has sore arm, & shoulder. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary & Bert went in to Belleville hospital, Omer came to there this evening.

Aunt Mary & Rose went to Waterloo church, stopped at Uncle Adam’s, he is pretty good; they brought some flowers along, for a bouquet to take along to hospital; Geo. Hormighausen visited pap this evening, at Belleville.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went home after breakfast, coming up after dinner & going to hospital, then Bert stays & Rose comes home. Mr. Ervin Boo, Circuit Clerk of Monroe Co. at Waterloo died Mon. & buried Thurs. afternoon there age 26 yrs; he had been ailing for quiet awhile, had 1 leg taken off several yrs. back, had pneumonia, leaves his wife nee Vera Kropp, his father & 2 brothers Willis & Billy, his wife & brother been taking care of his office, ever since he was unable to. Vic Geodelle bought the Mary Lich home of West Mill St. for $2000, were he will move it in the near future.

Henry & family, Mrs. Cleveland & Rose came to Belleville this morning & Bert went along home, had flat tire coming home, got here about 10’oclock. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to stay with Bert tonite, they were home all day. Bert went up town this morn. & to see Gerti Gartner were she works, awhile for part time.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Bert went in to Belleville. Bert is to stay in & Rose came home. Mrs. Elln [sic] Miller & Josie Keller came to see pap this evening a while. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went home this afternoon, & came back tonite to stay again, with Rose.

Uncle Fred went home, about 5 – then came back again, we ate, then us three went in, Aunt stayed here baked bread. Pap got operated at 10 min to ten, took 50 min, was to himself though right away, but has some terrible pains. Dr. Frein operated, he said it would be alright, all cured. Fr. Shoemaker came to see him last nit. Rose stayed in all day & tonite. Uncle Fred went home to work after dinner; Dr. Frein had 3 operations this morning, while we were in there, he told us. Sure warm again today, had a heavy rain at Belleville yesterday. Uncle Adams 86 yr. birthday. Henry & family came this evening. A corset sales lady was here. Uncle Fred went home this afternoon.

We worked in garden. McBride from Prairie Du Rocher came & brought over 2 heifers & sow for $65.00, pap bought from him the other day. We called Dr. Eckert this morning & he says the best thing pap could do is go to the hospital; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, this morning, yet; & pap went along in with Dr. this afternoon, & Uncle Fred & Rose went in together, but they came home again; he has room 104 at Belleville Hospital.

We washed, ironed, planted all our geranuims [sic] out nice day. Rob & Billy stayed here, rest went to Belleville, [Floyd] got his hand redressed again, took stitches out. It will cost him $50.00 or more, for cutting the finger, that is doctor bill; he was on the operating table 1 hr. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening worked there garden, brought 6 tomatoe [sic] plants along for us.

Nice rain last nite; makes things grow, we worked the garden all through. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & pap went with them to Emlings sale by Burksville, May sale cryer; tools & 5 rooms furniture. Washed our hair, got real nice again. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here, then pap & him went back to Emlings again & got mule & horse that pap bought, bought all kind junk, Uncle got rocking chair, pap walked home with the team, 11 o’clock when he got here, we listed to the radio & stayed up till they came home again, had a big & good sale. The sow had 1 pig today & 1 dead.
