Pap got crushing done; Henry & boy’s came up to. Pap, Steve Rennecker, Rob. Laut went to Pete Dehn’s sale, everything was high price, they said; Burdgorf was here looked at the cattle. Steve got 5¢ milk tonite. Joe Manier’s got fish fry tonite. Henry was saying, John Kern is in jail, scraping with Mosio; took our quilt out of the frame today. Rose & Berti name went over the radio today, but they didn’t say requested for Aunt Mary’s birthday, Jimmie & Dick played. Mexican Trail; The German Band, played one for a lady at Evansville this afternoon; Sure got good program tonite from Dismoinies [sic – Des Moines] Iowa; lot of good riddles & jokes.

Vic Eichenseer was here & delivered some articles, flour etc. Mr. & Mrs. Louis Armstrutz where here this evening, playing 5 hand pinochle, Bertille had 1500 spade. The nurse was at the Paroachial [sic] School & sent John Krehers, Nic Schaefers & Will Braun’s, children home because they had scarlet fever & also quarrantined [sic] them. Melburn Miller got pulled in for making whiskey & beer.

Today Rosalia is 20 yrs. old. The bunch came & surprized [sic] her, where: Mr. & Mrs. Henry Birkner & family, Henry Brand & family, Fred Papenberg & family, Alf. & Elsa Eckert, Rosalia & Rita Braun, Clem & Elmer, Bessie Parker, Hy. Hillsheim, Odillo & Mamie Eichenseer, Christ Buehler & family, Henry Spalt, Mr. & Mrs. Steve Rennecker, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary. The basement was cleared & dancing begun till 12 o clock, Uncle Fred & Henry furnishing the musci [sic]. Beer, cake, where served. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for lunch& supper. It is also Mrs. Geodell’s birthday, they had the celebration Thurs. evening. Fr. Grooten gets in trouble with everybody, Richert was fined $15.00 & all night in jail for having plum wine, Jack Ganley was arrested, cutting the wires on Hillsheims machine & one thing another, lots news in Hecker, in 1931. But ain’t so claims it.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family where all here for dinner. Philip & Bill where here for lunch. In the evening they came back & we went down to the Brick House, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went there too. Bill Herzog furnished musci, [sic] they had a pretty fair crowd. They charged the gents 25¢ ladies free. The Red Bud Dramitic [sic] Club came to Hecker to the new school hall & gave a play to-night. There was a terrible accident in Hecker, this evening, there was a car came from the west & didn’t make no stop, & Eugene Bruns was going by & then smashed together, nobody was hurt but the cars where both damaged. The stranger car was a man from Belleville & one from Chester, they where intoxicated. The Sheriff was called & he arrested them took them to Waterloo to jail & the way they said they would have to pay $100 fined & 10 day in jail. I don’t know who is right, we heard now again that the boy’s where uncosinence [unconscious].
