Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to work there garden’s, had dinner & lunch here. Hugo Probst brought the chev. back, all repaired, new Con. [connector] Rod – charged $5.40, labor was $2.00, all included. Confirmation at Evansville today; seen the Bishop pass. Mrs. Wm Probst was operated for gall at Belleville Hospital.

Fried down 2 gal. bacon. A man was here selling soap for toilet for 35¢; McAndrew’s was here, papa had to signed so, he was satisfied to have the stump hauled on his ground. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile, went to Bellville [sic]. Papa hauled wood, 2 loads this afternoon. Lucinda Eichenseer is in the Bellville hospital. Awful cold, today. Winter is coming.
