Went to Red Bud 7 o clock. Leo & family came, Marita stayed with pap, & Bert [Bertille] went along with them to Belleville to redication [sic – rededication] of St. Mary’s Parish Blessing by Bishoff [sic] & mass by Frs. Orlet, Kaiser & Hoff; beautiful church & much larger, lot of people at church; had dinner for priests. We came home, had dinner here, pap cooked. Bill [Klein] & Bert went to Henry’s this eve. playing cards; had pie cake etc.

Went to mass. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came down for dinner. We got a book as souvenir, from diamond jubilee; the Bischoff [Bishop?] receives $75.00. on that occassion [sic], & banquet, they had 3 turkeys.

Thanksgiving Day. Bert [Bertille] went up to church for awhile to Wedding mass of Oliver Qurin’s & Edith Klinkchardt, all white dress with train & long veil. Grohmans flower girl; & Viola Qurin, blue dress & Dorthy Klinkhardt rust colored dress, long acted as bridesmaids & Quintian Klinkhardt, 2 brother & Eugene Neff friend as best man. Bert [Bertille] went to wedding dance at Kammler’s, large crowd & received many presents, Schoenborn Och; served sandwiches & cake. We went to 10 o clock mass at Red Bud, 75 Diamond Jubiliee, Bishop was met here in Hecker. 32 priests had dinner there 3 turkeys. Went to Paderborn this afternoon to see Connor’s & F. Schilling. Sure beautiful weather these days, nice warm.

Henry’s birthday 32 yrs. We went to Red Bud 6 o’clock mass. The Bishop comes there at 10:30, we didn’t go down for confirmation, there was a class of 22 children & 7 adults. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Josie Keller were here all day, dinner supper, she was out at Aunt Mary’s all nite last nite; came about 9 o clock. Omer & we went to Foster Pond to free birthday dance tonite.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to work there garden’s, had dinner & lunch here. Hugo Probst brought the chev. back, all repaired, new Con. [connector] Rod – charged $5.40, labor was $2.00, all included. Confirmation at Evansville today; seen the Bishop pass. Mrs. Wm Probst was operated for gall at Belleville Hospital.

We had to get our chicken ready for the picnic this morning. Bertille went to church. Aunt Mary & Rosalia went up to see the procession of the Bishop. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary, Henry’s family were all here for chicken dinner. Henry & Rosalia did the work this evening. They had a very large crowd at the picnic. The Smithton Band furnished music.

Today the Bishop comes to Hecker to confirm 37 children. Bertille went up to church at 6:30 this morning. Henry, Leona, Mrs. Jake Geodelle were at church too. Robert, Floyd was here at our house. They all had breakfast here. At 9 o’clock we went to church again the Bishop came. The people were to meet the Bishop at Philip Cortner’s place. There were quite a few went out with their machine all decorated. Leona got confirmed today. Mrs. Jake Geodelle was Sponsor. There were 14 priests there with the Bishop. Papa & Rosalia went to Belleville this afternoon. Eggs are .17¢. There is going to be a dance at Rapp’s tonight, but we got no invitation so we won’t go. Miss Bertha Wolf of Belleville is in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is under surgical attention. She lives at 414 East Mckinley Street. Papa & Bertille went out to Henry’s this evening. Bertille took her first automobile lesson.

Today all the Ladies of the Parish have to clean the church for confirmation. Wednesday, the Bishop is coming. Leona, Robert, Floyd were here this morning. Leona & Bertille went to church. Rosalia helped to scrub the church this morning. Bertille went up to practice singing for Wednesday. Father Grooten called up this morning and wanted to know if he could use the Whippet. Papa said “yes.” So he came down and Johnny was here too. Papa went along with him to Chester. He said he wanted to get some rock for the school house. So Papa went with Father too, so I guess he will see Chester for the first time. Rosalia & Bertille went up to Eichenseer’s and got Mamie and then we went to Joseph Braun’s & took our pillow slips back for the picnic. There was a Jefferson Club meeting in Hecker tonight, at Griffin’s Hall. In Kammler’s Hall the boys were tearing the stage out ready for the dance Saturday night.

Bertille took 4 dozen eggs & got .22¢. We planted 3 rows of potatoes today. Mrs. Rheinecker got 4 dozen eggs from us this evening for her brother, Louis Dehn. She gave us .22¢ a dozen. Leona & Bobby & Floyd were here this morning. The Bishop was to come to Hecker this evening on account of complains for school. We found 26 eggs.
