Papa got crushing done. He went out to Geo Roth Jr. sale this afternoon, things brought fair price, he & his family will move to Hirst Place, Nel Rausch place, he is in a very poor condition not able to work. Leona brought the boys up, stayed all night, we went along with them to Waterloo Pautlers, Gus Geodelle gave the dance, had a nice crowd. Al Schneider gave one at Brezzy Hill, wasn’t very much, Moonlight there played.

Hy. Birkner’s got a second hand Chev. 1930 model at Belleville today, just like Hy. Clem Parker was here on business. George Parker’s got the baby christened Sun. afternoon James Arthur, Arthur Coop & sister, were sponsors. Oscar Birkner had fish fry Sun. evening. There is a free wedding anniversary dance at Brezzy Hill tonite. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this morning, had dinner here, him & papa went to Waterloo, he got a new Chev. 1934 model, $568. from W. Nobbe; black weehls [sic – wheels], green body. Mr. Otto Horn was here wanted to sell suits. A lady here selling household goods & toilet. Uncle Fred got $176.00 for his old car & $105 for horse all in the trade. They went to Red Bud to Buehler’s. Jac Erle came & they got the papers insurance fixed out, a new policy. George Wagner & kids, came over to fly kites in our field. We went to Brezzy tonight, Mr. Maul & Perry May’s Wedding Anniversaries, but poor musci, Fisher Orc; nice crowd. Uncle Fred bought ice cream for lunch, this afternoon.

Went to Waterloo church, stopped at Henry’s awhile. The Maeystown ball players & Hecker, played in Hecker. The all stars are sure lucky so far this year, they haven’t lost a game, won today 18-5. Storekeeper Mertz is the pitcher this year. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening, take in the musci [sic] at Kammlers Hall, the “Pals of Harmony” played & also gave the dance, Gents 25 ladies free, we were there awhile, not so much doing, no crowd at all. Too many other dances tonight, Brezzy Hill, Chas Sensel’s, & several others.

Papa & Rose went out to Henry’s again all day, help shock wheat, had lunch, dinner lunch, there. Bertille baked pie. The days are awful warm, & evenings cool; & awful dry. Donahue’s are having a free dance again tonite, musci [sic] by Night Hawks, we didn’t go, to tired; also free for the ladies at Pautler’s, & Brezzy Hill.

Eddler from St. Louis was here to see Fred Birkner on business; he went out to see him they where up this afternoon, had supper here. We went to Brezzy Hill to dance, Moonlighter’s played, had a good time. ladies free & also chicken soup, it was hot! Martin Doyles had a shooting match, but not may people there, didn’t raffle a one they say. A negro camp team played Hecker, 1 bear cats; 6 to 7 favor Hecker.

We went to Waterloo this evening, to see the talking picture show, “Horse Sense & “Benefactor” given free by Ins. Co. it was sure nice, from there we went to the Grand Opening “Dance”Donahue” Road house, free, except eats & drinks, it was also a Braun’s birthday; & crowd, just packed, Henry & Leona where there to. There musci [sic] was Kohler Orch. & at Brezzy Hill there where 4 celebrating birthday.

Papa got crushing done this morn. Geo. Boll was here to sell soup meat or roasts. 10 & 13¢, we didn’t take any. It rained last nite, & cooler today. Bess Helmer is giving a birthday dance at Brezzy [sic] Hill tonite adm. 25¢, White Duck, & Miss Lucille McCarthy is giving one at Oak Grove 20¢ each. We all & George Wagners family went over to Renneckers played pinochle this evening, wine & cookies where served.
