Pap went out to Henry’s all day. got 18 bus. [clover seed] out in all now. Leo Kern & Edna Braun were married yesterday at priest’s house at Red Bud; dance last nite. Joe Kern & Louis Cowell’s daughter attendants, bride wore a dark blue dress. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up. Emil was over. Oliver Birkner delivered chick & pig mash. A lady been selling product for orphan children to help them along. Awful hot this afternoon.

Raining all morning. We went to church. Spirtas was here & went out to Aunt Mary’s. Hecker is playing the first ball game today, here with Waterloo, & Hecker lost, the game & Boy some yelling they did, & terrible noise. Miss Melba Hepp & Leifer are being married this afternoon at Belleville, double bredismaids [sic]. Mildred & Erma, sisters of the bride, dressed in pink & blue, bride in white; all relatives that is Uncle & Aunts invited for supper & this evening 200 guests invited to Daab’s Club house for dance. We went out to Henry’s stopped a little while, then went to Waterloo to Mary Matthews birthday dance, Sunset Synodabt playing, but went we go there, it lightened & thundered, we went home again, it rained during the night; there were quite a few cars there.

Today is the big Weddings of Arthur Moehrs & Isabel Kalmer at Tiptown; & dance at Oak Grove, & Sylvester Hellmer, Mamie Mueth at Waterloo, dance at Brezzy Hill. We went out to Uncle Fred’s helped make hay, had lunch, dinner. It sure was cloudy in all corners, but still no rain, out at Schillings it rained, they couldn’t thresh from 3 o’clock on. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we went to Brezzy Hill, stop in at Henry’s. Mamie didn’t get so very many presents at the hall; 4 in all, that we seen; the crowd was just about right, she wore white hat with little veil on it & dress, hose & shoes, flower pink, long sleeves, all satin; & the bridesmaid Aurelia Hellmer wore light green with white hat, & white bow, & slippers, the groomman [sic] Jerome Schilling & groom wore dark suits, Schillings Moonlighters furnished musci [sic], we had fish lunch & sodas then went to Oak Grove, stoped [sic] in on our way home, but boy! was there a crowd there it was awful there, everybody played musci [sic] Keohler’s Orchestra; the bride wore all white, with long veil; double bridesmaids, brothers & sisters from both sides; one wore pink & blue with slippers to match; they played “Home Sweet Home” we left, got home 1:30. We gave Mamie a pair pillow cases.

We had chicken soup for dinner. Rosalia & Bertille went to Red Bud to the Wedding high mass at 9’o clock, the couple was from Valeymer [sic], & also priest, the bride wore white dress & veil & carried white roses, the bridesmaid wore blue dress & ribbon & carried yellow roses. Frank Geshwender & Mildred Becthlofft are being married in Hecker with a wedding dance in the hall tonight. We are invited to Chas. Hellfrich’s to a birthday party tonite, Mrs. Helfrich’s & Mrs. Ed. Krehrer birthday’s; we all went down there, all the Birkner’s, & Jeff Bell furnished musci [sic], an a crowd & fun. Oh! Boy; cake, beer, wine were served, Hecker, Paderborn, Waterloo, Red Bud, St. Louis, people where all there. They said the wedding dance in the hall wasn’t much, Irene Reheis Orchestra of Belleville played; not crowded at all. Joe Griffin was best man, & her sister & best girl friend & maid of honor. The bride had white dress & veil, & others green, & coral pink; they had a white cloth laid all the way to the alter to walk on; the bride was taken to the coumion [sic – communion] railing by her father, & the girls followed & Frank & the boys came in the side door, everything up to the minute, 4 priests.

Henry & Emil had lunch, dinner, lunch here. Hy. Armstutz was also here for dinner he helped to schock some today. Henry cut his oats for him too, & he smashed the binder all to pieces, he says he won’t be able to cut his at home anymore with it. He is finished up here now. Karl Boll & Marcella Ettling are being married & gave a dance at Brezzy [sic] Hill. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary, Henry & Leona all went, but we didn’t. Bill Herzog furnished the musci [sic], they say it sure was some bum wedding dance, not many people, all was outside. She was dressed with a white dress & hat, shoes & pale pink stockings. Buddy & a girl from St. Louis where the attendants. We all went over to Rennecker’s this evening, Jake Klein’s family where also there, celebrating Steve’s birthday. He got a 1 gal. ice cream & Oh Boy was it good in hot weather?
