We washed, ironed. Papa went to see Con Myerscough & stopped at the butcher in Red Bud. Hempe Bros. of St. Joe was here looked at the horse & cows. Nice day we washed windows. Mr. Rennecker came over & got qt. milk for 5¢. One of our heifers is sick.

We baked bread & pie. Went butchering at Henry’s about 9 o clock, had dinner finished at 3:30; everything went good, about 250 lb. hog. its awful warm, have to fry things in, we took some; so Uncle Fred went there tonite to take some. Rain a little this morning. We all got weighed out there Floyd 51 – Rob 53. Billy [Willis] 30, Bertie 118 – Rose 163 – Leona – 122 & pap -165. Henry – 130. Bernice brought the mail. Eggs 25¢. Norma Geodelle – daughter of Jac Geodelle & Armin’s sister was married this afternoon to a fellow from South Dakota at the home of her parents, he worked for Roland Eichelmann, him [Roland] & his wife are the attendants, wedding dance next Wed. nite at Pautlers. Otto Stadel his name, he came 2 weeks ago here, they were corresponding for a long time, she says. Hy. Spalt & Katie Stallmann of Prairie du Long, to be married this afternoon we heard.

Henry & Leona & Emil, Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary all helped butcher, finished today, killed two made summer sausage; weighed 250 & 215 lb. hogs. It rained a little last night & morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went home this evening. Mrs. William Klotz is on the sick list, & pretty bad. Roy Staufenbiel’s have a baby girl born Sun. Eckert doctor.

We washed, cleaned up from butchering; Rosalia took the boys & papa out, he had to help Uncle Adam’s butcher. She got them again this evening, she takes the boys & gets them every day from school. Mr. Oscar Birkner came to get Uncle Fred grinder, he is going to butcher 4 hogs tomorrow, one 500 lbs. Henry Meng was here ordered 2 hogs for Thurs. to butcher.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & Henry, helped butcher, Uncle Fred one & we one, ours 260 & Uncles 230 @ $6.25 had lunch, dinner, & supper. Rosalia took the boy’s to school. It is sure cold today. Leona was to get up today, & walk around.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, he & papa went to Waterloo on business to see Mr. Leohr, Postmaster. Papa hauled corn from Martin Fritsche 64 bus. @ 45¢. We butchered a little pig this afternoon for roast. We got the Messenger today.

Snowed last night. We made ice cream this morn. Rosalia took eggs up got shipstuff got 15¢ for eggs at Eichenseer’s. We got cheese again from Mertz. The Y.P.L. are having a euchre in Kammlers Hall tonite; not a very big crowd, I don’t imagine, we didn’t go. George Wagner was here, says he will butcher Sat. if weather permits.

We cleaned the chicken houses out & put straw, sprayed them. Elmer Kammler was here wanted to see if he could get fat hogs to butcher but we have none to sell now, he says he can’t find none nowhere. Chas. Wagner had a run away this afternoon, his horses got scared, & started in running till by Meng’s; he sure got a real shake up, seating in the box wagon.

Papa went to Waterloo this morn, & got the whippet repaired, brakes fixed, car greased & oil changed for $12.94. Mrs. Rennecker was here awhile this morn. A man around selling fish 20¢ lb. Mr. Fisher the butcher from Waterloo was here & looked at our cow, & hogs. Walter Gregson was here & bought stock roosters @ 10½¢ lb. 18 lb. This evening we drove out to George Boll’s & looked at his cow, then went & stopped in at Roy Staunfbiel & then to Uncle Fred’s awhile. There is Republican Meeting in Kammler’s Hall tonite, Henry went, sandwiches & soda free.

We washed, ironed, made butter & cheese. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where at Waterloo & from there to Belleville & then up here, we ate lunch with them, liver sausage, then they went home; for Frank Birkner’s birthday tonite. Setel the butcher from Smithon [sic] was here & looked at our annimals [sic], but didn’t want any. We picked a bu. tomatoes for Leona this eve. Henry & Dan Geodelle came & got the whey.
