Cooked 2 kettles soap, put up wire fence. We planted potatoes, finished now; pap got Meng’s plow to make the rows. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, went along with us to Red Bud to the card party, Berti had 9 points got cake pans. Uncle Fred, a little dress & Aunt Mary 25¢ sugar; the rest got nothing, not so much of a crowd. The hooked rug was won by Mrs. Leo Schumacher of Evansville, pillow slips by Mrs. Ratz, & Schuelte got attendance prize, a lace tablecloth, very pretty. Aunt Mary said Mr. Bill Sensel, Pete’s brother died at Waterloo will be buried there Thurs. afternoon, she was talking to him yet last Sat. there, he was O.K. then.

We washed, ironed; fried in sausage & ribs etc. Rose got a letter from Margaret McDermott, stating that there will be a card party tomorrow nite at Donahue’s, given by Tiptown Parish. George Wagner got doz. eggs @ 24¢. Renneckers boarder is leaving tomorrow for St. Louis, Mr. Smith, he has a higher position with St. Louis Diary [sic – Dairy]. Saymenger of below Red Bud, has his job at the station here now, has been working for last 4 days. The Fire House & City Hall is nearly completed now, except the roofing yet.

Bertille baked cookies this morn. We washed & fried down saussage [sic.] this afternoon. It is awful cold, 10 above zero, report is it should be 6 below tomorrow morning. Papa went up to Eichenseer’s got the alchol [sic] tested & got some put in it. They told him up there that Mr. John Hepp died some time this morning, & that Mrs. Cecil Budde nee Starr only child of Mr. Percy Starr shot herself yesterday evening around 6′ o clock, Fr. Adyt said that it was going to be a private funeral & will be buried in Hecker Catholic Cemetery. The Mueth’s boys where at Hill’s today. Josie is awful sick now, had the doctor out Sunday. The St. Mary & Martha Society of Waterloo are givin card party.

We washed, ironed, patched. The wind is so strong, it blew our clothes line to pieces. Papa went out to Henry’s with the mule, helped Henry harrow & sow oats. He had dinner there. Rosalia went & got him this evening with the Whippet. The sewing circle of Red Bud Catholic Church is giving a card party tonite. There is also one in Waterloo given by Mary & Martha Society. Seen in the paper, Mrs. Val. Fristche was suing Wm. Klotz for $10,000 for accident of him & Val Fritche in Smithon [sic] & Hecker road. Ben Neff’s had a big dance Sun. nite, being Mr. Neffs, 53 birthday. Mr. Hy. Burdhorf of Red Bud told Eliza Boll this evening that Mon. was Mrs. Burgdorf’s birthday, & that they have a daughter living far away I believe Montana, she called her & congratulation her mother, it was 2200 mile distant talk, & Mrs. was so happy she cried for joy.
