Rain & colder this morn. Bert [Bertille] took all the flowers out, put them in basement. Lena Meng was here awhile, stopped in on way home from town. Last nite was Wustmarket at Memorial Hall in Waterloo given by Catholics; also entertainment paper said. Leo & family came, he has sick colt, the one from us, he called Doc. Miller of Waterloo from here, he came here, & we all went to Leo’s, has swollen leg, both front ones; gave him stuff to rub on them, has an awful lot of pain, can’t lie down.

Nice day. Pap went in wood; hauled some together, & brought load home. Bert [Bertille] washed. Went to Wagners quilting this afternoon; Mehrmann came got 6 doz. eggs @ 16 [cents]. Steve Stiffler & Al Gasser were here, looking at the horses again bought them, going to get tomorrow afternoon $135. team. The Catholics got card party in hall tonite; isn’t so cold tonite. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came; Bert [Bertille] went along up to the euchre, but none won a prize Bert [Bertille] had 7, they each 5 points. Mrs. Geo. Grossheim won attendance prize, cake cover; crowd wasn’t to large.

Sure some nice weather. to warm. Pap went out in woods, hauled home some butchering wood. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up this morning, had dinner here; fixing pumps etc. Bert [Bertille] fixed curtains. Emil moved in this afternoon, Joe & Levi Gregson helping. Mehrmann got 8 doz. eggs @ 25¢. took bu. turnips along again. Schmidt brought egg mash down, & settled the lard, we sold 6 gals. The Catholics have euchre in Red Bud tonite. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary had 10 got house slippers & U. [Uncle] Fred – 11 – dress goods; not much of a crowd, Seifert got quilt that was raffled; prizes were all seperated. [sic]

Ironed, patched this morning. Papa went to Red Bud, got 100 lbs. growena, from Zipfel. We went out to Henrys this afternoon cleaned hall & papered kitchen. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, & we all went to the Catholics euchre, & what a crowd, not many prizes, $1.00 attendance prize was won by Clyde Pautler, of Evansville, 11 points was the highest, Max Welabacher took 1st prize, get 25 chip from Ed Parker, Bertie had 3 got bottle white shoe cleaner, Uncle got stationary, rest got nothing.

Papa went to Waterloo to the Court House today to hear what the lawyers got to say about the stockholders of the Hecker Bank. Bertille went to church this morning. We washed the Whippet this afternoon. Jac. Erle was here this morning. Uncle Fred, Aunt Mary, Philip Freund were all here this evening, then we all went to the Euchre & dance given by the Catholics. Adm. as enter 35¢. Papa had 6 points & got a shawl, & Rosalia 5 points & got a tie, Bertille only had 3. There were only 8 games played. The bed spread was won by Raphael Neff, & Bertha Weber, & Marie Rausch got a choice on quilt & lumber jacket. Eggs are 15¢ today.

Papa went to church this morning the rest of us didn’t go. Tonight the Ladies Aid is giving a euchre & Bluey in Kammler’s Hall. There is also one in Tiptown & tomorrow night the Catholics got one. A rush before lent. Schneiders got the measles also. The way they say. Roy Staunebiels kids & Cletus Reagan also got the measles now. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Armstutz before the euchre tonight, because we got the measles here. Rosalia is feeling alright but the measles ain’t gone away yet. There were 18 tables tonight at the euchre and Bluey.
