Mrs. Sophia Homirghausen, that is George’s mother died & will be buried this afternoon at St. Marcus Church & cemetery at Round Prairie. Mr. Tecklenburg got our eggs & chickens today, eggs 28½¢ & chickens 10¢ that is hens. Bobby is down in bed to with fever, the rest are up today. It is a Holiday for the town people, there is so many cars passing.

Papa took the saddle horse & rode out to Uncle Fred’s today to help put up hay; he had lunch, dinner. Rosalia & Bertille went to the funeral of Mr. Gambach’s this afternoon, to the house, church & went to the cemetery with Mrs. Oscar Birkner, it was a large one & many flowers. Mrs. Gambach takes it awful hard. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up to stay over night, Rosalia Bertille rode along down to the cemetery to see Gambach’s grave & all the flowers. Mrs. Hy. Gambach brought one there too.

Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s to get the harness & plow, he traded his horse to Kelley for 2 horses & hay; he brought the horses yesterday & got a load of how & today he said he was coming after the rest. Emil was here & him & papa started the team out in a plow, some circus. Ed. Meng was also here. Clifford brought there horse over & took the saddle horse & went riding. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came to help make hay. They where here for lunch. They brought Mr. Gambach home this evening & will be buried Fri. afternoon at 1:30, the paper states he took cresote [sic – creosote], Mrs. found him at 7 o’clock in the barn lying face downwards.

We went to Waterloo Church, papa wanted to see Rob. Merz. about tin roof, this afternoon him & his family came out for awhile. Mrs. Rennecker has lot of company today, she is 60 yrs. old. We went out to Uncle Fred’s this evening. She & Lonie where at the cemetery for service this afternoon, so many strange people where there. He made a nice sermon & everything looks nice. The priest that was to make the sermon had a nervous breakdown.

Papa went to get a haircut & shave. Ed Neff’s little boy is getting buried this morning, church up here at 9 o’clock then to Red Bud cemetery. Papa went out to help Henry stretch wire.

There was a man here wanted to sell crockery. Papa went out to help Henry, & Ettlings set posts for the line fence. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where working up here all day, planted potatoes. Bertille was on sick list with cold & toothache. Rosalia planted the daliahs & flowers out today. Eggs are still 9¢. Tomorrow Mrs. Ed. Fristche, daughter of Huber’s died & will be buried at Walnut Hill cemetery, he died 7 years ago Apr. 3, 1925. She leaves 4 children, oldest now Fern 17 yrs. old, now the wife of Ham. Bitters Belleville.

We cleaned the little chick house. Papa went out to Henry’s, help sew oats. He was there for dinner. We set 5 hens again last nite. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary are up again this afternoon making garden. Mrs. Stricker, Mr. Kumke are being buried at Red Bud this afternoon. Rosalia & Bertille had lunch at Aunt Mary’s, helped them make garden. Hy. Armstutz was there awhile too. Papa went to Red Bud to inquire from Wn. Cowell about insurance. Mr. Wise insurance agent for the Ill. State Auto Association, was here trying to insure papa in that Auto company, he & Henry both joined, payed $12.00 now, it is a jubilee, so it is cheaper. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Henry where here listening to him talk. Ed. Neff was here & told papa that Auto Co. was shake, him & Phil Braun where to be the represtative [sic] of Hecker, but they both went in to see Harry Jackons this evening yet, they are going to with draw now they said so Papa & Henry will to, but wither [sic] they get there $12.00 back, will find out later. A good many people from around here joined it.

Miss Pinkel was buried at Waterloo this morning. We have 22 little chicks from 2 hens, but them in the basement. Jake Helfrich’s the carpenter at Belleville have a little boy.

Mr. Gabriel Schilling was buried last Monday morning at Dalgreen, the relatives from here went down. Papa went to Waterloo this morning, & also to a bankrupt sale near Coxeyville. Bertille took 3 doz. eggs to the store & got 11¢ some price.

We sent a birthday card to Josie Keller today is her birthday. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Henry where all here, then we went up to Neffs house to Emma’s funeral. She was buried at Red Bud & also in that church. She was 20 yrs. old. The pallbearers where: Edwin Wacthel, Edwin Reheis, Lester Bruns, Ralph Wiegand, Joe Griffin, Werner Kammler, Quernheim’s undertaking. The baby Ed Jr. is going to stay with Neff’s.
