Chas. Wagner’s threshing now. George Emery went on Cliffords place today, he got hurt yesterday, fell from the wagon. Nice an cool this morning. Wm. Wiegand Jr. while going home from threshing, one day nite last week, was hit by John Schaefer of Waterloo, Wiegand had no lights on his wagon, they didn’t notice him, smashed in to him, wagon broke all to pieces, frame & all, he is going to get a new one, & have a reflector put on it now. He wasn’t hurt. Vic Braun came & asked if Klotz could drive through this way over to Mengs; but he came through the alley any way.

We all went to church this morning. Papa went to Red Bud, & he stopped in at John Braun’s. This afternoon Papa went out to help Henry in the woods. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon to clean & spade the paths in their garden. Clifford was here & got a setting of Reds’ eggs for 25¢, eggs are 16¢ at the store. Henry came up & him & Papa went to the milk meeting in the new school hall. They also had a milk house on a truck here too, it was 6 x 8 ft. Mrs. Duecker got a spell again this afternoon, they called for the doctor twice.

Today is Labor Day. Picnic at Red Bud, Smithton, Tiptown & Old time dance at Waterloo Court House Yard. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up about 3 o’clock and then we went down to Red Bud we were there a little while, then the fellow came with snakes & selling Cactus Oil & rattle snake oil. There were four fellows singing and one playing piano, Snitzelbank & Adam’s Rib. From there we watched the ladies or women saw wood on the stage. About 5:30 we all went to Tiptown picnic & dance. We were there a little while & the prizes were awarded. 1st prize Living Room Suite Mrs. Kate Brand from Red Bud, Ill. 2nd prize 9×12 rug A.L. Clifford Red Bud, Rt. 4 the same man what got the radio last year. 3rd prize wrist watch Herman Geoslling Waterloo, Ill. 4 rd. & fifth prize went to St. Louis & East St. Louis. The dancing began in the evening. Admission .25¢. Ludwigs accordion & guitar, mandolin, furnished music. Uncle Fred & Gregory Mcarthy played together. We left from there & went back to Red Bud and listened to the music a little while there. Rosalia was at church this morning.
