We went out to Henry’s butchering, had lunch & dinner. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped also; Uncle Adam came down awhile, Boy! it sure was cold last night & today; Papa got crushing done this afternoon, finished butchering at 10 o’clock with everything. Ed Pabst brought load corn. The Chicago Mail Order came, papa felt boots everything OK. The Buso Sisters are having a dance at Pautlers tonite, Gents 25 ladies free. Cowboys playing. Also is a free dance at Donahue’s, given by Siefert & Donahues girl friend; Blossom City Orch; we went to bed; early.

Went to Red Bud; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner here, chicken. Henry & Leona left the kids here & they went to Red Bud hospital to see Mrs. Emil Bestmann, she is pretty good, going home this week; had supper here when they came back. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we all went to Pautler’s to Bertille birthday dance, & my what a crowd, we danced the first piece Rose & Bertille. Josie Keller & Miss Kuhn came out also, [Josie] gave Bert pair beads, & flower hankerchief [sic]. Cowboys played; & swell time. There was no other dances, except Donahue’s & one in Paderborn, but it was nothing, Paderborn people all at Pautler’s & lot of Hecker; all the neighbors.

Went to 7 o’clock mass. All Soul’s Day. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had breakfast here. Raining this evening. Bill Haudrich’s of Red Bud is giving a birthday dance at Pautler tonite Cowboys of Rythum [sic]. Adm. gents 25 ladies free; dances all over tonite.

Pap got haircut, & got crushing done; took string down to Mike Armstutz, he is shocking corn today. Cloudy today. We baked cake & mince pie; Pap hauled home corn fodder 2 loads. Hy. brought corn 2½ sacks. We washed chev; pap took it to Probsts & got it repaired. Alois Havey was here, pap spoke to him about chimney fixing, he will next Mon. afternoon if the weather is O.K. Bertille got a letter from R. Pautler, everything O.K. for a free birthday dance there on the Nov. 3. Cowboy of Rythm [sic] to play. Hot Dogs. Eggs 27¢. now.

Crushing this morning for the last time, till futher [sic] notice. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary brought us some cherries, then went to Belleville. Ivo Buehler is getting along nicely, will come home by next week Wed; if everything is alright by then. Papa got hair cut. This afternoon went out to Henry’s, going to start cutting wheat if it ain’t to wet, so he didn’t get stuck with the binder, & tractors. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, went along with us to Pautler’s Pavillion, Boy! what a nice crowd; free dance; Cowboy’s playing.

Went to Red Bud; they made $80. clear at the card party Tues. nite. We went out to Uncle Fred’s for dinner & supper. Mr. John & Sam Krehrer, were also there, looked at implements etc. We went to Pautler at Waterloo tonite, free double birthday dance, musci [sic] by Cowboy’s, nice crowd, there was a wedding dance at Dreamland, Mueller & Shewer Jr. It rained nearly all evening. Ed Fahey said Martin May turned his car over last night at Vanburen’s, 5 in the car, went to Waterloo to get Rose, & going home, car came out Vanburens lane, & collision, May’s car is a total wreck, took Martin to the doctor, man from Renault was driving, Rose has scratches & bruised a little; that is the third car he wrecked in a short time. Mr. Robert Probst is having a dance at Manier’s tonite, musci [sic] by Vogel Bros. Adm. 25¢.

Went to church. Went out to Uncle Freds, dinner & supper, played cards. They came up this evening went along with us to Pautlers to a free birthday dance, Cowboys of Rythmn [sic] playing, nice crowd also; stopped at Henrys awhile. It rained, wind, this evening.

Went to Red Bud. It is cloudy again today. Art Schaefer & Clarance Kreher came here & gave us an invitation to Kammler’s Hall tonite, for surprise Agnes on her birthday anniversary. Jerry Neff is giving a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite, Adm. 25¢ for gents, ladies free. Musci [sic] by Cowboys of Rythmn [sic]. The tea set given away at Connor’s City Grocery was won by Mrs. Ed Rehling. We went to Waterloo to Jerry’s birthday, nice crowd, Neffs family where also in; we stopped at Kammlers on the way home, a little while, also had a nice crowd, Schoenborn & Schaefer playing & Helfrich boys of Paderborn & Birkner boys had a little scrap, one had his shirt all torn, they came to Waterloo after that, they had it in the saloon; they also passed cake around; here.

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came had dinner & supper here, Frank Dudenhoefer came her too told us that they were asked to come out to Manier’s for chicken supper, 5 families were out; he said we should come Wed. or next Sun. Mr. John Dehn was taken to Belleville hospital, operated for appendix and is pretty bad, no visitors allowed; he is 61 yrs. of age. Mr. R. D. Butler of Burksville is in Red Bud hospital, poor condition. We went to Pautler’s to a free for all dance, cowboys of Rythmn [sic], had a wonderful time. There was 260 CC camps boy’s at the Waterloo camps & about half where at the dance, some bunch, they already have some sent back & 6 in jail this morning for stealing. Aunt Mary went to church & meeting this afternoon in School hall.
