Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up, she & Bert [Bertille] went to mass wedding of Eichenseer & Parker; bridesmaids Lucinda dressed in plum & Adelle Pour in greenish blue. Mamie all white satin, long trail & veil. Clem & his attendents [sic], Joe Parker & Clarence Parker in dark suits. Joe leading the bride in church, pretty wedding; dance at Daabs tonite. Leo & Rose, Bill [Klein] came, all went. Pap cutting corn these days, prices on things going up. hogs – 9.50 – veal or heifers 12 [cents]. eggs 15 1/2 & 19 [cents]; all on account opear. [? – unclear] in European nation, so many were killed & bombed terrible.

Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1939

Went to Bellville [sic] with things all sold out; $6.31 all the melons & potatoes. Made peach perserve [sic] & cooking catsup. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up, he went to Red Bud on business; brought sugar & flour. Leo & family came, going to leave Marita here a few days while they are cutting corn. Sure some awful hot days.

Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1936

Went out cutting corn again, 9 shocks this morning, we washed & ironed, this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up. The fire truck was called out, just at noon, at Maniers Park, Mr. Frank Kroell was burning rubbish, & got away, little damage; got it out right away.

Monday, Aug. 24, 1936

We had a nice shower rain last nite, but not enough. We all went cutting corn, cut 8 shocks from 6:30 till 9 o clock, got to hot.

Wednesday, August 27, 1930

Rosalia went up to clean school today.  Papa is cutting corn.  Tonight is a dance at Weigands in the brick house.  Milton Wagner & Henry Hillischeim is giving it.   Milton & Lester Bruns stopped here last night when they went home from work and he invited us to come.  Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this evening and we all went down to the dance.  Karl Boll furnished music.  There were quite a few women cleaning the school today.  Leona & Frances Schilling came up together.  She left the kids here with me.  Papa is cutting corn this afternoon again.
