Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came this afternoon took Marita along home this eve; Leo & pap went to Smithton, Leo took 29 bus. of our wheat to Freeburg got 90 [cents] he also went to dentist over there. Awful cold this morn. 10 above & tonite to be zero radio says.

Becherer & Horcher were married yesterday morn. at Coloumbia [sic]. Rosalia came we stretched curtains today. Went to New Athens this afternoon to dentist. We had chicken soup dinner. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary, Bill [Klein] got Leo [Orlet], all came this eve. we repapered spots in kitchen. Henry brought load corn. They had there baby girl christened Joyce Elizabeth yesterday. Mrs. Adolph Klube sponsor. Mr & Mrs. Elmer Haudrich have baby girl born Sun. also.

Raining this morn. Uncle Fred went to Waterloo get oil changed. Aunt Mary stayed here. Leo & family came Marita stayed, they went to Athens to dentist; had dinner here. Sewed some lettuce & tomatoe seed & peas. Bert [Bertille] fixed curtains upstairs & put up. Received wheat check 1938 – $16.80. Bill [Klein] & Bert went to church.
Tuesday, Feb. 14, 1939
Valentines Day. Went to Red Bud mass for Pope. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came. Bert [Bertille] went along to New Athens to dentist Dr. Lauter, does pretty good work. Filled 2 teeth for me for $2.00; fixed some for Uncle [Fred] & Aunt [Mary] to $2.00; they went home, came back again this afternoon we went to Belleville, brought clover seed along $2.61 for cleaning 174 lbs. @ 1 1/2 [cents]. Leo & family came this eve. we played 2 games cards etc. Eggs 16 [cents] at one place 15 [cents].

Went to Belleville dentist this morn; fooled around again little ground some of on teeth, come again in couple days, some dentist day. Painted smoke house. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up, cleaning out cellar. Henry brought load corn this morn. Eggs 21¢. Wheat 96 & 98¢.
Saturday, Sept. 18, 1937
Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, she went along to Belleville, went to dentist, should come back again next Tues. A. Mary got new hat. Henry came brought 2 sacks potatoes along went to get crushing done. Pap went down to see Hy. Feruer. U. [Uncle] Fred said was some people here to look at mule. Etling [sic] was here.
Saturday, Sept. 11, 1937
Went to Belleville dentist. Bert [Bertille] got new black dress $1.99 they have street fair there yesterday & today, square is all decorated Ferris wheel, merry go around dance floor etc. Pap went to Bozzays. Sure cool nights. Maniers have fish fry tonite also dance at Floraville. Oliver Kammler & Lulu Ackerman were married at Louisville Ky. last Tues; are now making there home with J. Kammler’s his parents; he is employed now as hucstere [unsure – could be huckster] around town. Rob & Olive Laut are digging potatoes today here. Mrs. Jake Orlet is improving; she was very ill, the appendix was already broken when they operated; last mon. morning. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] were in to see here Wed. but not long no visitors allowed.

Nice cool, trimed [sic] lawn, canned 3 qts peaches, tomatoes. Went to Belleville dentist this afternoon. Bert [Bertille] got new shoes. Washed car this eve. Coumnity [sic – Community] Sale at Maeystown this afternoon.

Pap went to Belleville dentist. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came she helped can bu. peaches. Chris Buehler stopped in, going to take bu. peaches along to St. Louis tomorrow for Mary Hagen.
