Papa went out to Henry’s to help him again today, there for dinner. It started to rain this morning, but after the sun came out nice. Osie Matzenbacher & Rosie Meuth are being married today. It rained again nearly all afternoon got colder towards night. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, then we all went to the Wedding dance at Oak Grove, this eve. had a good time. Elmer Matzenbacher & Mamie Mueth where best, but Emil Goedelle danced the waltz with Mamie, because Elmer couldn’t. Rosie was dressed with a pale blue or greenish like lace dress with blue velvet coat, short one. gold band around the head, & black pumps. Mamie had light blue crepe, with ruffles & black slippers, it was pretty. The Hickory Hollow Billies furnished the musci [sic]. [They] got married in the parsonage of Evangical [sic] church. He 24 & she 19. She got quite a few presents. Henry & Leona left the kids here this eve, then went down to Red Bud to the dentist, she had a bad toothache from the one he pulled out for her last time.

It is snowing & awful cold this morn. Papa didn’t go to church today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here for dinner today. Henry was up & got medicine for Floyd, he has the measles now. Papa paid Uncle Fred for the seed potatoes today. 2 bu for $1.80. Today is August Blackburn’s birthday. Fr. Grootens went down to the Evangelical Church between our masses, & before there service & preached a sermon about the bank. They should do as he says & everything will be allright. Fred Schaefer brought Rome Meng home this evening, he was snowed under he couldn’t hardly hold him up. Philip & Bill Freund were here this evening & we all went to church.

Bertille was at church this morning. The Catholic School children didn’t have no school all this week, because the furnace isn’t fixed yet. They took Mrs. Lutz to the hospital this morning, she is in a pretty bad condition, she is swollen up so bad she can’t hardly breathe they say. Mr. Zimmer the candidate for School Superintendent was here this morning. The Monroe Co. farmers Institue is going to be held at Columbia this year. This evening the bell of the Evangelical church tolled 58 strokes for the death of Mrs. Lutz, she died at 3:30 this afternoon. They was to operate on her, but she was too weak, when they brought her to the hospital.
