Pap hauled posts, has wood & all hauled now, got corn fodder from U. [Uncle] Freds. Went to barber shop got hair cut & shave. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up again this morn. cutting corn etc. The Wedding picture of Pete Kaiser 31 & Adella Karban 20 was in paper were married last Sat. morn. in St. Louis, in St. Peter & Paul’s Church. Attendants Bertha Karban her sister, & Lawrence Kaiser, cousin to groom. Wore white dress with long veil, carried flowers, Lilies, nice picture. Mrs. Emma Bechtold of Waterloo passed away 57 yrs. will be buried at Waterloo this afternoon; has 4 children, 1 boy Armin, 3 girls Ida Wright, Malinda Valmeyer & only 1 single Viola; also the boy was at home. Arthur Dour & Reickert girl are being married today, dance at Keims, Floraville.

Pap hauled 2 loads wood. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came worked across the street & had dinner here chicken. Bert [Bertille] washed, ironed. Cloudy this eve. thunder. Emil was over awhile. People around are rather Hy. Rausch selling apples with Schwarze from Calhoun Co. selling apples @ $1.25 bu. alful [sic – awful] nice apples they were. Waterloo band played on radio again this eve. last time for having week day concerts in eve. they advertised the Home Coming for next Sun. didn’t come through good to much static, bad weather, thunder rain in St. Louis.

Send a order to Chicago Mail House. Got alalfala [sic] seed 5 lbs. 30 [cents] to sew in hog patch. Eggs 21 [cents]. Susie got $10 for coming here. Pap hauled wood this afternoon. We picked about bu. tomatoes.

Went to 6:15 Holiday Mass. Birkners were here awhile. We cleaned chickens etc. delivered everything cake, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, lard beets. Rained a little, light showers. Nice cool. Emil came awhile. Bill & Bert [Bertille] went to Belleville. Henry came this eve. he was to see Fr. Aydt. about sending Rob. [Robert] to Hecker School it’s alright he should send him; for to make his solemn communion.

Canned 21 qts. peaches. Laut & Schneider hulling clover seed here. Awful hot today. Cut tomatoes for catsup & peach preserves.

Bert [Bertille] went to Leo’s with truck, he hauled coal Bert helped wash; they & Bert all went out to Henry’s, combining again 126 bus. afternoon. Chas. Helfrich came got oats. Emil & Steve Rennecker came over awhile.

Heard Chas. Stookey’s program on KMOX a record of Millsdadt [sic] fire engine on a imaginiary [sic] fire. on radio at 6:30. We Went out to Henry’s starting combining at 10 ‘ o clock stopped at 5 laid over awhile at dinner; got out 100 bus; so many people there to see it work; we had lunch dinner & supper. Leona & Bert [Bertille] took 18 bus. to Waterloo got 67 [cents] docked 3. top is 69 [cents] today. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up this afternoon her left little while after we got home. So hot today.

Rained a little. Canned 2 qts beans. Henry came; were going to start combining, this afternoon, but can’t now.

Washed ironed baked cookies, canned 2 qt beans etc. Went to Smithton looking for used cards, so far haven’t got any yet. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were here working there plow up here. she brought bean along for me [Bertille] to can. Hy. has got a combine outfit.

Bert [Bertille] went to Red Bud mass & brought Leona home & took her home. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary staying there all day. Pap cleaned chicken house & hauling lumber home this afternoon, from Schillings. Ed Brand & wife came from Alba. [Alabama] are visiting here with a new hudson car, swell big car. Leo & Bert [Bertille], went to hospital, Leo stayed all nite; Bert [Bertille] came home with Uncle Fred. Mr. Shields was here this evening. We planted sweet potatoes & tomato.
