Leo & Rosalia came down, brought her wash along, we washed together, & ironed patched etc. Bill [Klein] came helped put concrete posts down; Marita stayed here all nite. Jos. Braun died will be buried tomorrow morn. at Fateyville Church & Mt. Carmell cemetery at Belleville. Berrings had free coon lunch & horse peffer [hasenpfeffer?] last nite called over lines. Louis Schoenborn got tickets for wrestling match at E. St. Louis; Bill [Klein] got Bert [Bertille] & went.

Washed, ironed. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were here for dinner, worked in there basement, putting a concrete slab on side for to set fruit cans etc. on. Today is Vic Prophet parade in St. Louis, was to be broadcast on radio at 7:45 tonite, also have big dance on some street. Went to euchre in school hall had 7 points, got nothing neither did Uncle Fred & A. Mary not much prizes, not so much of a crowd. 16 tables euchre; there is Rosary Devotion at Red Bud, euchre at Donahues Tipton parish, Ida Schmierbach wedding dance at Fateyville.

Went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped awhile. We had winers [sic – wieners] for dinner. Raining all morning. Today is the wedding of Aaron Papenberg 24 & Mabel Rieso 21 at Smithton Church with attendants. Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Rittmeyer sister of bride & Miss Alma Weber & Vic Papenberg; it is also the 25 Silver Wedding Ann. of Mr. & Mrs. Rieso; a reception to invited relatives & friends will be held at Daabs Clubhouse tonite; we are not invited, going to live in Lizzie Boll’s house, 2 rooms; she got electric put in last week. Today is also the Golden 50 Wedding Ann. of Mr. & Mrs. Mike Armstutz; for only relatives, children & sisters & brothers for supper & rest, nephews & nieces, cousins etc at Maniers Park & hall tonite for a dance & reception. Musci [sic] by Wm. Birkners Orch. & all musicians. Miss Ida Schmierbach of Smithton & many of Fateyeville [sic – Fayetteville] being married at Smithton Tues. morning; dance in eve. at Fateyville [sic – Fayetteville].

Josie Gregson’s birthday. We went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here this morning awhile & this afternoon they went to see Louis Birkner’s, Edmund Eckert is getting better they said there, they came back here again & Uncle Adam & Emil was also here, they all had lunch. Abromse [?] Doyle & Joe Kelley & son & Paul Poney where here looked at the colts. Josie Keller & girl friend Miss Mckurns from St. Louis came, Josie has a new Chev. coupe, they had supper here also Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, they took Aunt Mary along down to see Lizzie Boll. About 7:30 they left for St. Louis again, she just got her new car Tues. Lena Meng was here, Josie gave her a ride when they went home, took her along a far as Stehfest corner, Lena went to get the milk. Ed. Burke & family came to look at the colts. Two fellows from Fateyville [sic – Fayetteville] wanted to buy small pigs, where here, company all day, 16 in all.

Eggs where only 8¢ yesterday, lowest they ever were. In last nights paper it was that Colonil [sic] Lindbergh’s baby Augustus Charles Jr. got kidnaped [sic] of it bed, while sleeping between 7 & 10 oclock, there is a big piece in there, but they have no clue of it yet. Joe Braun is moving his family & thing to Fayentiville [sic] where he is now employed with the creamery there, as clerk. John Reagan moved in Joe Braun’s house today. Ben Heyl stopped here this morning to put some water in his radiator, because it always leaked out. George Wagner’s family & Steve Rennecker & wife where here playing pinochle this evening. Eggs are still 8¢.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry’s family were all up this morning. This afternoon Papa, Rosalia & Bertille drove down to Wm. A. Voges to see about some pigs. We talked with Irene that long. She told us that Kunkelmann’s had a dance Sat. nite and that Hy. Hillsman is to have one over at Fayetteville to-night. The bunch from Hecker, 40 of them, was going over in Clarence Braun’s truck. We went out to George Schilling’s this evening & took their sacks back again. We stopped at Henry’s but nobody was at home so we came back home again. In the evening Mamie & Angela Eichenseer came down. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Red Bud to Irene Buehler’s birthday. They stopped in here when they came back. Irene was 8 years old today. Today it is so hot it is 104 under porches in the shade.
