Cloudy. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came awhile, they were to see Kochs by New Athens. Elmer Haudrich was here to look at hog feeders; wants to make one. Raining again this eve. Eggs still 14 [cents]. Dr. Frein was buried yesterday morn. Tomorrow is the 25 Silver Wedding Ann. of Mr & Mrs Vic. Eichenseer, had the mass this morn. Henry was by Emil’s this eve..

Foggy day again. Bert [Bertille] washed. Emil came over awhile this morn. Pap & him walked up to Frank Emery’s funeral this afternoon 2 o’clock services at house; then to city cemetery, he was 63 yrs. of age. had been ruptured some time ago; Pallbearers were Vic Eichenseer, Jac. Neff, Steve Rennecker, Oscar Klotz, Adolph Lother, Bill Fritsche. Wagner boy’s came got 4 doz. eggs for Mehrmann 25 [cents] today. Mrs. Bill Kaiser was taken to hospital in ambulance yesterday, double pneumonia, for 6 days; had Dr. Frein & nurse out yesterday also. Mr. Martin Fritsche here in town also has double pneumonia; so much sickness around & real weather for it to. Miss Kate McDermott who was making her home in St. Louis past while, suffered stroke Sun. morn, was taken to Red Bud hospital, were there she died, will be buried tomorrow morn, at Tipton church & cemetery at Koch [? – unclear]. Wagner’s family came this eve; we play 7 games pinochle, ladies winning every game.

Ascenscion [sic] “Holiday” Went to Red Bud to 6’oclock mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came went along to Belleville with us; we got new dresses; pap went to Dr Frein’s office, should come back again next week. Beautiful day. There were a lot of people from Hecker & Paderborn at Belleville today. Fr. Aydt & Dramatic Players, & Mr. & Mrs. Joe Griffin & Pearl, 15 in all went on an outing to Fort Gage & Chester, he furnished dinner eats & drinks beer.

Uncle Fred went home, about 5 – then came back again, we ate, then us three went in, Aunt stayed here baked bread. Pap got operated at 10 min to ten, took 50 min, was to himself though right away, but has some terrible pains. Dr. Frein operated, he said it would be alright, all cured. Fr. Shoemaker came to see him last nit. Rose stayed in all day & tonite. Uncle Fred went home to work after dinner; Dr. Frein had 3 operations this morning, while we were in there, he told us. Sure warm again today, had a heavy rain at Belleville yesterday. Uncle Adams 86 yr. birthday. Henry & family came this evening. A corset sales lady was here. Uncle Fred went home this afternoon.
