Cloudy. Henry & Rob. came made hay 1 load, they didn’t have no rain yesterday at all; like here, they had lunch here. Fr. Eschmann of Waterloo passed away yesterday afternoon at 1 o’clock, is at present in Parish house, will be at church, from 3 tomorrow afternoon till Fri morn funeral, he had a paralitic [sic] stroke Sun. morn; since then been sick. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came brought tomato plants along & also some for Buehler’s, took them down, & came back here again; we finished planting today, have about 180 tomatoes & 288 cabbage. We got card from Committee of Red Bud, for all men to be present at School hall there tomorrow eve. Pap took chev. to Probst got oil changed & started fixed. Eggs .16¢; allful [sic] warm these days. Davis & man of close by Bellevile [sic] was here looked at horse.

Washed ironed. Pap went to Henry’s, then to Maeystown to look at pigs; for him. Henry & Robert were up cutting & making hay 2 loads; had dinner & laundry, ice cream. Leo & Rose brought truck back got there car, got $11.95 for pig 210 lbs; top price $12.05. We had nice shower this eve; planted some more plants & beans.

We washed, ironed patched, rain & heavy showers & hail, this afternoon & eve; we planted cabbage & sweet potatoes plants out; Request card for Jim & Dick to play a No. for paps birthday came over radio today. A guy here selling apple, took pk. 45¢. Chas. Helfrich & son got load hay $11.00 & 17 bus. oats @ 60¢ & wheat 1½ @ $1.27; all feed for his stock & chickens, he is going to move on Mrs. Wihelms farm, by Red Bud. Eichenseers are in & Co. are having a Purina Meeting & Show at Kammlers free tonite, “Hidden Harvest,” we seen it last year at Red Bud; were pap got 25 chicks attendance prize. tonite they are giving as prizes 2 – 25 lb. sacks purina feed & dairy hopper. We went to the show, pretty nice crowd hall filled for conditions of weather. Ed. Parker & Adam Brauns won the feed & Al. Cleveland the hopper.

Pap’s 59 birthday. Pretty nice this morn, but rain, thunder all afternoon. Pap went to see Chas. Helfrich about selling hay. Pap took eggs up 16¢ brought beef bone had soup for dinner. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family & Leo & Rose were all here this eve; had lemonade & cake.

Cleaned dining room, awful warm. Olive Laut was here, wanted duck eggs. Chas. Helfrich got load hay this afternoon; $12.70. A fellow here selling fish; we didn’t take none. Sly. Kabureck is at Belleville Hospital operation appendix getting along well; took Mrs. Joe Kaiser in Mon. to be operated appendix.

Washed. Pap went to see Williams, looked at his pigs, bought a little pup along: for boys, he went down to Acker’s to look at cows. A. Mary came down this morn; had dinner here, helped quilt, they went home this evening, L. Birkner isn’t so bad; now, getting along well. Alf. Geodelle & Rob. Laut got 2 loads hay, $10.00. Henry & family came this eve; to get the saw & wedges & took the pup along, pap brought along for them, they carried it around the house here, pretty nearly all the while.

We washed, ironed. Nice day. Made hay 3 loads this aftr. A man here selling brooms, & one looking for work for eats. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this eve. Eggs 25¢ now. Wheat is $1.15.

Cloudy & heavy dew this morn; no threshing for awhile yet. Henry & Boys came up made hay; had lunch, put 2 loads in barn & took 1 home. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped on there way home from Belleville brought us sugar & saussage [sic] along. Sun ain’t shining so bright today, don’t dry so good. A lady here wanted to sell foot cushions to wear in your shoes for callouses.

Henry & Rob. came finished the hay; 1 load to take home. Rose & Bert went out to Aunt Mary’s, helped to quilt, for the church, Frieda, Emma & Lonie all helped; the 4 together making it for church. Cloudy, rain after 12 o’clock. We went to Floraville opening dance.

Baked. Henry, Rob. & Grover hay maker were here this afternoon for lunch, didn’t quite get finished, took 1 load home. This morning there was a large truck went by, took the wire, of knock telephone post off, brackets lying all over, Griffin fixed it this afternoon, we were off the line, he hit the wire that crosses the hard road to our post & house on this side. Sure cool evenings.
