Went to Red Bud, mass; tomorrow morning is mass for Omer, first time down there now; & on Tues. is two funerals at 8:30 is Len. Wagner 27 from Anna, Clarence oldest brother & Mrs. Kaffai, Mrs. Roy Gregson’s mother, both died of stroke. Mr. Jake Reheis is being buried in Smithton this afternoon. Ben Schilling went along to Denver Col. with his brother in law John Hoeffner, of there; to see the country. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, Bert went along to Reheis funeral at Smithton, church was crowded; he was 74 yrs. old; was buried in concrete house, erected in 1935 for him & his wife & daughter. Christ Buehler was here, looked at his wheat. Emil Ganley came wants the hedge cut in there lane. Uncle Fred went home she [Aunt Mary] went to church, came after her again this eve. had supper here. Sure beautiful day. Leo & Rose went to Annies & Earls Heumann’s at O’fallon; all day. Isi was here this eve.

Friday, Aug. 21, 1936

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, we all went to Waterloo to Mrs. Edna Hoeffener [nee] Schilling 32 yrs. funeral from Querheim to church & cemetery, pretty large funeral; got her at St. Louis last nite, from Colrado [sic] looks natural, thin & small, being sick so long, married 7 yrs. to John Hoeffner of St. Louis. The Sisters were also here. Six cousins palbearers [sic] Omer, Jerome & Martin Schilling, Frank, Oscar Birkner & Will Volkmann.

Sunday, Nov. 11, 1934

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in a while; after church. Mr. Clyde Pautler of Evansville & Miss Ann Marie Parker were published first time today. Henry & family came, took us along, went over to St. Louis to Frank Dudenhoefers, got there about 4:30, had supper, & Oh Boy! was it good; played pinochle & bunco in the evening, left about 8:30 for home. Mr. & Mrs. Lester Hoeffner & Mr. & Mrs. Chas. Rohrass Gusta’ nephew; & Bill Dudenhoefer were all there. Gusta broke her right arm, some time ago, she fell. We went the old St. Louis Road Route 13, surely a nice drive; & enjoyed it immensley.
