House Ins. agent was here. Pap went to Waterloo took 9 bus. wheat along @ 68 [cents]; got Berts [Bertille] shoes repaired. We went to Belleville this afternoon got wall paper for bedroom & kitchen 10 [cents] roll. Bill [Klein] came this eve. Went to Dr’s.

Rose & Bert went out to Henry’s, & Leona & kids went along over to see Mrs. Joe Schilling & Sister Everdina, or Frances, she is still the same; little stouter, Mrs. is feeling pretty good. Mrs. Helen Walsh & John Schilling & girls also came; we stayed at Leona’s had dinner & lunch, we washed feathers, couple pillows & all the feathers in 1 bed; sure is some mess; put them in the washer & through the wringer. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he helped pap alter the pigs; Ted Eichenseer was here, about house Insurance. Eggs 18¢.

Papa went over to Meng’s a little to see the barn. We got the check for our chickens that we shipped, got 17¢ medium springs & broilers 15½¢. & heavy hens 16½¢. Mertz charged 65¢ for hauling. Papa & Rose went to Waterloo with a load wheat; got 73¢ bu; there was also a train wrecked, sale on Rickert lot; things sold so cheap, papa bought paint for $1.50 & 80¢ gal; vanilla 2 bottle $1. for 25¢ etc so much. Rose went to Hecker, paid Ted Eichenseer for house insurance $24.90; some cheaper than last year. Eggs 20¢. We went to Waterloo to Pautler’s, Paderborn baseball club gave a dance, Moonlighters playing.

Cooler today, thundering this afternoon. Uncle Fred, & Aunt Mary had dinner here, then we played 5 hand pinochle. Leona brought the boy’s up, then we went along with them to Foster Pond, to a dance, ladies free, Pals of Harmony played. Ted Eichenseer came, our insurance on the house, is run out so he renewed it, put the barn in also for $300. There is pinic [sic] & supper at the Round Prairie church. Confirmation at Smithon [sic].
