Went to mass. Leo & family came for dinner & supper. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped they went to wurstmark in hall given by Ladies Aid of Evangical [sic] parish of Hecker. Bill [Klein] came went to Barthel’s & also went to his brother Frank’s.

Went to mass. Celebrate feast of Corpus Christi. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped awhile; her & Bert [Bertille] went to Minnie Staufenbiels to get her dress, its all finished now. Leo & family came for dinner, he went to church here. Bill [Klein] came this afternoon, getting his new V.8 Ford this week. coach, greenish gray; from Favre at Smithton. Ed. Helfrich & Leona Horescher were published at Paderborn. The Hecker Ladies Aid have there Cold Supper & pinic [sic] today at church grounds, pretty cool for pinic [sic], having a 4H Club band from around Waterloo. The 4 Happy Ramblers are having a dance at Kammler’s tonite. Awful cool.

Beautiful day. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, awhile before mass. Mrs. Emma Eckert brought the veil back, had it borrowed for Emmie Solemn Coummioun [sic – Communion]. We went to Red Bud for 7:30 mass, but it is changed now to 6:30 & 8:30 masses, so we came to late, so stayed for high mass & benediction. The Evangical [sic] Church Ladies Aid got cold supper & pinic [sic] today, at church grounds. The Hecker Baseball Club has a dance at Kammler’s Hall musci [sic] by Schmidts. We went to pinic [sic] awhile. Pap went for supper, also Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary. Birkner’s Orch. played musci [sic]. Mrs. Milton Wagner won the free game of bluey, & also the quilt in lotto, & Mrs. Frieda Koreber won 1 quilt in bluey & 1 that was raffled out; sure luck. Edgar Wittenauer was stabbed with a knife last nite by Maniers, isn’t so bad; fellow from Athens; sheriff came out & took him to Waterloo Jail.

We washed, ironed, patched. The Ladies Aid of the Evangical [sic] Church is giving a euchre party at Kammler’s Hall tonite. Werner Kammler is hauling coal in for Geo. Wagner. Al. Eckert had a accident in Belleville Fri. night, fender, & wheel smashed, to the corner to fast & upset on curbing, has the car fixed now. Milton Wagner’s called there little boy Darwin & Geo. Lorbergs called there girl Romona. Rose & Bert went to Waterloo, took papa watch in again & left it there for awhile now; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we went to the euchre, Uncle had 11 & got sauce pan, & Bert had 10 got little rug; not much of a crowd, & no prizes, 7 euchre tables.

It froze ice last night. We washed, ironed. Papa sewed clover seed. The Ladies Aid of the Evangical [sic] Church put up two quilts in there church & are having quilting. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up for church this evening, brought sack turnips along. We went to Red Bud to lent devotions. Fr. Feldman had the stations, he is in an awful condition. We fed out little chicks raw potatoes & Alfalfa.

Papa went to Red Bud to get butter milk for our chicks. Ike Napier & Karl Boll came & got the hog this morn, it weighed 309 lbs. at 4.50¢ lb. Steve Rennecker came over this afternoon, the ladies of the Evangical [sic] church have meeting George Kammler’s. Mr. Philip Ruhl 79 years of age died & will be buried this afternoon at New Athens.

Today is Children’s Day & also a cold supper & pinic [sic], by the Ladies Aid of Evangelical Church, we all went to the pinic [sic], had supper there, nice crowd there, people from all over. Gus Kaulneck’s have a barn dance tonite. Adm. 25.

It froze hard again last nite, ice. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henrys this afternoon & got a load of wheat took it to Freeburg 49¢. There are a few trucks hauling rock again this afternoon for in front of the church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & we all went to Oak Grove, Melching gave a free dance. It was a nice crowd there. Vandereit furnished musci [sic]. The Ladies Aid of Evangical [sic] Church gave a euchre this evening in Kammler Hall. Papa got oil in both cars today. egg 8¢.
