Rose & Bert went out to Henry’s, & Leona & kids went along over to see Mrs. Joe Schilling & Sister Everdina, or Frances, she is still the same; little stouter, Mrs. is feeling pretty good. Mrs. Helen Walsh & John Schilling & girls also came; we stayed at Leona’s had dinner & lunch, we washed feathers, couple pillows & all the feathers in 1 bed; sure is some mess; put them in the washer & through the wringer. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he helped pap alter the pigs; Ted Eichenseer was here, about house Insurance. Eggs 18¢.

We washed, ironed, patched, washed the curtains. Papa went out in the woods. It is warmer again today. We cleaned chicken house this afternoon.
Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1932
We washed & hung it in the basement, because the weather is rather disagreeable out. Papa got his hair cut this afternoon. Elmer Kammler said his wife & Mrs. Laut where both down in bed with the flu. Robert Laut paid $400.00 for Wm. Laut’s property here in town. Mr. & Mrs. Laut are already living down in Elmer’s house, they will have sale. Henry was here awhile this evening, he went to Hy. Hepp’s to get some leghorn hatching eggs for 11¢ doz. He say’s the boys have the wooping[sic] cough now. We where going to Red Bud to lent service, but Henry came then made it to later.

Today is wash, iron & patch day. Papa went out to Henry’s to get the posts for a shed, Henry brought them up on the wagon. This afternoon Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, they where here for lunch, & supper. He helped papa with the straw shed. The Karr Range Co wind [? – unclear] through this afternoon & played the radio, it was nice. George Wagner & the kids where here this evening. Bertille got a recipe book from Mrs. Rennecker this afternoon. Alfred Stahl had awful bad luck the other day. Some thing caught fire & it came up to the seperator [sic] & started burning the fire stuff there & he tried to fight it, & got his hand all scorched & burned & also his arm, he hooked the engine too it & broke 4 links, so there it was, so the water wagon came then & it got it out, then he was on the engine & fell off & broke the same arm.

Leona, Robert & Floyd were here this morning. Rosalia and Bertille washed and ironed today. Papa, Rosalia, Bertille went out to Henry’s this afternoon to get some posts. Rosalia & Bertille got their hair cut today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here a little while this evening. From here they went to Hirst’s to wake for her.
