Friday, Sept. 18, 1936

We dug our potatoes this morn; aren’t very large. The log man was here again today. Paper says that Wm. Ganley got to have shooting match for turkeys on 27.  We killed 2 snakes this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Henry & family were here this eve.

Friday, Sept. 4, 1936

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & pap went along to Sparta Fair with them. Rose 25th birthday. Henry & Leona came up, Henry went to the meeting at Kammler’s Hall; this morning. We baked bread etc. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here, ate watermelons & doughnuts.

Saturday, Aug. 22, 1936

Pap cut 4 corn shocks this morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up at noon, there wedding ann. came over the radio this morn. We all & Henry & family went over this evening, had water melon, cake.

Saturday, Aug. 15, 1936

Holiday. Went to church early. Henry & Leona went to Belleville left the kids here. Pap went along with Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary to Hazelriggs sale. Henry & Leona came this eve; we all went to Floraville to free calico hop at Keims tavern; nice crowd. Cloudy had little rain this morn.

Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1936

Baked bread. Pap & Rose went to Waterloo load wheat; got $1.04. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came & got pap went to Paderborn church pinic [sic], had nice crowd there, we were all up, Henry & family also.

Monday, Aug. 10, 1936

We washed & ironed, pretty hot, 90 at 1:30 o’clock. Geo. Boll was around selling water mellons [sic], etc. we bought 2 muskmelon 10¢. Pap went out helped Henry spread lime dust. Leona is in Waterloo, Mrs. Geodelle was pretty bad sick for 3 days; is little better.

Thursday, Aug. 6, 1936

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were here all day dinner & supper he worked across the street. Leona & Billy [Willis] were up, she brought dress goods along & they sewed & made it for her. Richard Crowe won $4.25 playing bluey, sure lucky, that was half what they took in. Eggs 21¢

Wednesday, July 30, 1936

Cooler this morn. Hy. Weigand has a new Ford V-8. Noel Roscow has sale of implements & household articles this afternoon, Percy Starr auctioneer. Tipton has church pinic [sic], chicken supper. Prairie Du Rocher band playing music. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & we all went to Roscow’s sale, bought a rocking porch chair 60¢. things was all pretty old. Henry & family went to the sale to. Place looks terrible.

Sunday, July 26, 1936

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up all day had chicken dinner. Henry & family came this afternoon all had supper here. Such a hot day terrible. We went to Floraville to a free dance tonite. Jerom AuBuchon & girl of E. St. Louis were published 2nd time at Red Bud this morn; our cousin.

Thursday, July 9, 1936

Pap & Rose took wheat 23 bus. to Waterloo from Pabsts got 98¢; best price; we baked cake etc; went out to help Leona this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening. Hy. Armstutz came & got coop chickens, sold to Mertz. Awful hot days. Nic Helfrich brought sacks here, he hauled wheat for Walter Wittenauer.
