Nice day, cool. The tree man was here. We went out to Henry’s helped clean bedroom today had dinner. A man here selling electric machine for all kind of work. Mr & Mrs Ed Brand were at Belleville at Frick’s funeral & stopped in here, on way to Levi Gregson’s; to say Hello! Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came from Cortner’s funeral at Hecker here. Mr. William Freund 27 & Marcella Fahey 25 are being married at Tipton this morning, attendants twin [to bride] Estella Fahey & Joe Freund; no wedding dance. Miss Dorothy Schoenborn & Sutter of Millsdadt [sic] married at Belleville this morning, attendants Jac Schoenborn, Rose Stul & Rudy Helfrich & Tillie Rhinehardt, friends, dance held at Stolbergs Lake Belleville.

Pap got load corn fodder. He went to Red Bud, put ad in Saxemeyer’s news, went to see McBride. Went to Belleville this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, went to Belleville this evening. Rose went to Millsdadt [sic] Homecoming; this evening to see parade.

Cut lawn, washed car. Mentel of near Waterloo looked at our hay rake, will take it for $3.00; will get it later, they had been at Millsdat [sic] got strawberries 12 qts. $1.10. Went to Belleville to Dr. this afternoon. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary also went along in. Walter Parrot of Red Bud has a wedding anniv. at Donahue’s tonite free, musci [sic] by Blossom City. We went; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary to; nice crowd & good time. Skaer of Smithon [sic] 50 yrs. old jumped in well & drowned.

A man here wanted to rent Uncle’s house across the street for a dentist office; he came from Millsdadt [sic] – they won’t rent. Martha Boll gave us a visit for about 1 hr ½ this eve. Miss Luella Koerber of Floraville, is having a birthday dance at Paulters tonite, & boy what a crowd. Gents 25 ladies free, Rythm [sic] Kings played pretty good musci [sic], & crowd. Lot from Hecker.

Papa went working in the woods all day. S. Rennecker got milk. Ed Pabst came to see pap, he can’t rent the ground this year. Loyd is working at the foundry at Belleville now. Kalbfleisch of Millsdadt looked at the mare. Leo Kohler of Waterloo bought the Dalkert residence on South Church St. & Mrs. Aug. Wagner bought Ralph Collins place.

Washington Birthday. Pap got crushing done this morn. Henry did also, stopped here awhile. Floyd has the mumps now. Mrs. Renneker came & got some cottage cheese, also Lauts & a fellow here yesterday from Millsdat [sp] – looking for shoats, we sent him out to Henry’s, he bought them – 6 – $35. They say Walter Neff & Slyveria Helfrich are being married in St. Louis today.

Lincoln’s birthday. We went out to Henry’s butchering; killed 2 hogs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped too. Clara Wagner brought the cheese dish back, & ordered butter again. Raining tonite. The Altar Sodality is having a euchre tonite in school hall; we didn’t go. There is a masquerade ball in Smithon [sic]. Miss Adelle Probst & Floyd Quirin were married at Millsdalt [sic] this morning; her mother nee (Mary Henkel), a private reception at Daabs Club House. Schoenborn, Schaefer & B Schilling muscianers [sic] playing for the dance. Iowa is having terrible weather 25 below zero; people dying from cold, eggs raised 6¢ there. Mr. Otto Wagner of near Red Bud died yesterday will be buried Fri morning 9:30 at Catholic Church & cemetery, Clarence dad.

Went to Red Bud. Out to Uncle Fred’s dinner & supper. It rained a nice shower. Joe Griffin was annouced [sic] for 3rd time but the wedding was postponed, Mrs. Griffin is very low at present. Pete Kaiser had a head on collision car is total wreck, last Sun. at Belleville, 5 persons, were all taken to the hospital, he didn’t know nothing for 2 hrs. had a fractured skull; but is pretty good now. Holy Name Conference for men at Trenton today. We went to Paderborn to Totch’s to a free dance; & Boy! it started in to rain. Oh My!! the crowd started to leave, sure did have a crowd. Schoenborn & Schaefer played musci [sic]. Totsch’s served hot rump corn beef sandwiches. Kraemer & boys of Millsdadt, were going to fight, a constable made order, quite a few were feeling good. Geo. Mueth fell down outside, long as he was.

Papa went up & got Osie Neff to look at the place, were he wanted him to set the engine for threshing, he then went out to Henry’s; worked the mares, work fine, wagon, corn cultivator etc. had lunch out there. We went to Belleville & home by Millsdadt [sic], Waterloo & Red Bud, to see several parties on business. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, stopped a little while, & went to Praire [sic] Du Rocher to Jennette Ronnenberg’s & Fink wedding dance. We went to a free dance at Oak Grove, & nice crowd, Blossom City Boys playing. Oliver Pour has a new car chev.

Papa went out to Henry’s, came back & we went out to Uncle Fred’s, sewed; had dinner & supper, papa went out looking for horses to Millstadt etc; rained this afternoon a good shower. Eggs 20¢. Colder this evening.
