Pap went to Waterloo, got flour & egg mash, Rosalia went along out to Henry’s, took the wash along & put it away. Billy [Willis] & Robert has the mumps now. Berti cleaned dining room, washed & ironed curtains. The Umbrella man & a fellow selling broom holders were here; S. Renneker got 1 qt. milk. Eggs 23¢ today. Warmer; radio says snow.

St. Blase. We wanted to go to mass, but the weather was terrible this morning, fog & sleet ice, one car turned 4 times around, in front of Laut’s house; papa seen it. We washed, made cheese & 2½ lbs. butter. Kunklemann was here looked at the mare. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped in a little, then went to see Chris Buehlers, Linus & Iona aren’t feeling well. Quite a few around town got the mumps. Clara Wagner got 1 lb. butter 30¢ & Rennecker got 1 lb. & 5¢ milk; Eggs 23¢ Wheat $1.

Went to Waterloo to early mass, went to see Leona, she sits up a little now. We went out to Uncle Freds, had dinner, & supper, Aunt Mary’s birthday, 59 yrs; Josie Keller didn’t come out. There is a free double birthday dance at Pautlers tonite; Jake Reheis had a back set on mumps, is very ill, had 105 fever. Awful cold tonite; Mrs. J Harsey Sr. died at the Red Bud Hospital.
