Went to first mass. Fr. Stern is still not able to say mass. In Hecker & Waterloo children making there solemn Commioun [sic – Communion] today. Emme Eckardt came got the veil again, getting confirmed next Sun. here. Con. Myerscough stopped in. Lester Gregsons came, pap was elected to serve as judge on town election Apr. 20. he is going to take the job. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile after church. Mary Havey & man of E. St. Louis were published for last time this morn. We went out to Henkels paid for the seed $12. then went to Henrys. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came there to, we all had supper there. Uncle & pap went in woods, & Rob. also, Floyd is sick, dizzy spell he gets, cold. Set 2 more duck eggs. The mail carrier brought the rest of there chixs the same day, 250 & all were dead in box; they [Henry] wrote a letter to the co. right away but so far didn’t receive no answer; Henry said, thought the chics might of been chloroform. Cyril Haudrich is having a birthday dance at Pautlers, Am. [admission] 25 & 15¢. Skaers musci [sic].

Went to mass All Saint’s Day. Henry & family had dinner & supper here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here, him Henry & pap went up to look around in woods. Some people have looked at heifers etc. Pautlers has free dance musci [sic] Rythm [sic] Kings.

We went to Waterloo church, & then went to Gus Geodelle’s to see Leona, she is very weak, gets nothing to eat, not much; we brought Floyd along with us to. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile. Henry came to get crushing this afternoon. Wilbert Geodelle is having a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite, musci [sic] by Rythm [sic] Kings. John Kaltwasser is being buried this afternoon at Stehfests cemetery, from Belleville; Eugene Ahern of Waterloo will be buried Tues. morn.

Pap got crushing done. Con Myerscough & son Leo stopped in to see our mare, didn’t buy yet. Rain this afternoon & nite. Berti got a answer from the Extension Magazaine [sic] that dances in advent & lent, was no sin, & could also go on St. Patricks. night. Myrtle Keim of Waterloo is having a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite. Moonlight Orch. Adm. Gents 25 ladies free.

Some men around fixing stoves & etc. Pap went up town, butchering a hog by Eichenseer’s today for the wustmark [sic – Wurstmart] Mon, at the School Hall. It rained all day. Roy Neff was around taking orders for beef, they butchered one yesterday, pap went up this afternoon & got 50¢ roast 3 lbs; sell it at 18¢ & soup meat 16¢. Alps. Karban & Elmer Buss have a birthday dance at Pautlers tonite Moonlight Orch. Gents 25 ladies free; & rain all night, terrible.

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up all day, for dinner & supper. Henry & family came this afternoon had supper. We went to Pautlers tonight to a birthday dance, Rythm [sic] Boy played, & Boy! what a crowd & a time. Nice day; paper had said colder.
