Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary had breakfast & supper here going to stay over nite again, awful warm out. Went out to Henry’s butchering, had dinner. Boys got piona [sic – piano] accordion from Santa Claus for Christmas. Lena Meng was here to see Uncle Fred. Uncle Fred fixed the pump for Emil, after we came home from butchering. Frank Emery died this morn. 2 oclock is by Wagners. We played cards this eve. pinochle. Lena Meng stopped in on way town.
Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1937
Went to Leo’s & Rose [Rosalia] butchering 2 hogs. Jake helped awhile had to go home Earl came to fix him a brick foundation for kettle. We had lunch, dinner & supper & sugar cured meat & played 6 hand pinochle in eve. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed also, they left there car set by Jake’s to much mud. Mr. Orlets birthday today 73 yrs.

Patched. Went to Belleville. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up, went to euchre in School hall, given by Altar Sodality. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came brought there mollasses [sic] down to Hy. Armstutz $1 gal. we played pinochle; warmer again today. Euchre in Waterloo tonite.

Went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped in awhile cold, 14 degrees this morn. Ed. Kreher was here looked at colt. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, we played cards. Uncle & pap went out to see Ed. Krehers colt, they traded, pap got colt & $30.00, he got ours. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came this eve. we played pinochle, 4 games. Eggs 26¢.

Cold 20 to be 16 tonite. Schmidt delivered egg mash & articles. Triple birthday dance at Keims at Floraville tonite. Bert [Bertille] got mail & paid the bill. Henry & family came this eve.; we played 2 games pinochle. Snowing a little.
Monday, Nov. 15, 1937
Went to Orlets butchering, had lunch, dinner & supper. killed 2, 1 for them & 1 for his folks, they helped & Jake, Uncle Fred & A. Mary, 255 – 184 they weighed. We came home did our work & went back again, played 2 games pinochle, Isd. came out to after work sugar cured there meat, then went home; getting colder tonite.

Cold. We went to mass. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stayed awhile; went home; came back again this eve; played 3 games pinochle.
Saturday, Nov. 13, 1937
Pap got crushing done. He went to Grosomann’s sale by Smithton & Bert [Bertille] went along with Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary to a sale at Belleville, mostly old & antique things; bought some fresh liver saussage [sic] from Schwaegels; sure is good 23¢ lb. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came down, played, 2 games pinochle; popcorn etc.

Went to mass. Jake Neff came to see Uncle Fred. We went to Smithton to see Stehl & Nic Schaefer, came out on oil road stopped in at Leo’s awhile; came home. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came looked at our horse, then we all went to Uncle Fred’s for supper chicken, & played 5 card pinochle, had popcorn, nuts & refreshments; looked at picture.
Friday, Nov. 5, 1937
Beautiful getting colder. Bert’s [Bertille] 23 birthday. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary went to Red Bud to Buehler’s this afternoon & junk pile. Mrs. L. Fogassey & relatives, were visitors in town here, last Sun. Oliver & Cecelia & Mrs. Pour & Carrie Lorberg & Agnes Gregson were visiting at Iowa several weeks ago; from Fri. until Mon. Ben Schilling bought 126 acres of land from Emil Schilling & wife transfer in Waterloo paper. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary had supper here. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came this eve. played 5 & 6 hand pinochle, refreshments & cake. Tolin was here on business; trying to sell a mare to pap.
