We canned 3½ qts. tomatoes. Osie Neff came & him & papa went to Waterloo & got the deed written out by Archie Wiehl for $2.00, 4 acres of land for $225.00. Now Osie is going to build up a nice house, he won’t be far from the roadside. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up this afternoon, he cut his corn. Rosalia & Bertille went out to Henry’s, helped her with the plums, Rosalia got her hair cut. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came back again this evening for the euchre, we all went but papa, he didn’t, he went as far as the store. Uncle Fred was the only one that got a prize, he had 8 points & got a sack of flour. Aunt Mary had 7, but didn’t get any. Rosalia had 5, Bertille had 4. When we came home it started lightining [sic] & thundering & we had a little shower.

Papa is picking the potatoes through. Today is wash day, but it ain’t so very nice yet. It rained again last night, so threshing is stopped for awhile. Alsa Eckert was here, she wanted to know if we wanted some plums or peaches, the little peaches they sell for 50 bu. & the big ones next week for $1 bu., we didn’t order any yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up again this afternoon. Papa & Rosalia went out to Henry’s, & then came home & fixed fence. Uncle Fred went up to the priest & paid pew rent.

Henry was here this morning & the kids, they brought a wash tub plums & box apples. We didn’t keep all the plums, it was to many. Mr. Ed Meng was here this morning, to tell papa that Ratz had a cheap team for him, that if he wanted to he should come & look at them this afternoon. But he aint going. Papa got crushing done this morning. They say Phil Braun’s machine is going to start threshing this afternoon they must not of had any rain there. Vic Eichenseer was here & fixed our pump this morning, it works again now. We cleaned our truck patch & sowed some more turnip seed again today & also some radishs.

We all went to Belleville to church this morning. We had a little shower of rain this afternoon. Rosalia & Bertille went up to Mamie’s, then we walked the streets awhile, she came along home with us. Uncle Fred brought us some more plums this morning we got 5 qts & 11 glasses of Jelly now.
