Rained this eve; in morn. We went to Oswald Neff’s sale this afternoon, lot of things for sale. we didn’t buy anything. Henry brought 2 sacks potatoes. Feherez looked at the barrow. Pap burned potatoe [sic] straw this morn. Went out to Uncle Freds, then they & we went to see Emil awhile. Cooler this eve. again.

Saturday, Sept. 18, 1937

Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, she went along to Belleville, went to dentist, should come back again next Tues. A. Mary got new hat. Henry came brought 2 sacks potatoes along went to get crushing done. Pap went down to see Hy. Feruer. U. [Uncle] Fred said was some people here to look at mule. Etling [sic] was here.

Pap strawed potatoe rows, a few this morn. This afternoon we went to Ritzels sale in Waterloo, bought bu. basket full of glasses etc. 25¢. Raining again this eve, sure some wet weather.

Saturday, April 17, 1937

We planted 1 bu. seed potatoes this afternoon $2.20 bu. got them at Eichenseers, white & red. Christ Buehler harrowed his oats patch this morning; we also laid 3 sweet potatoe [sic] rows off, to early to plant yet. Henry & family were up.

Monday, Jan. 11, 1937

Henry came & we went along over to E. St. Louis to Furniture Stores; Dio [? – unclear] Slacks etc. Rose went up town took eggs up, 21¢; invited some people to her wedding dance. Floyd Pabst came brought potatoes up; the 3rd from the farm down there. Cloudy weather this days.

Friday, Sept. 18, 1936

We dug our potatoes this morn; aren’t very large. The log man was here again today. Paper says that Wm. Ganley got to have shooting match for turkeys on 27.  We killed 2 snakes this morn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Henry & family were here this eve.

Thursday, Sept. 3, 1936

Cloudy, looks like rain; Pap plowed a field for potatoes. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this afternoon. We planted some flowers.

Wednesday, July 22, 1936

We dug potatoes about 3 bus. this morning. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came took pap along to Frank Monike’s sale at Lords Corner, report is he is going to move his family to the Gambach property on E. Main St; were Pete Watchel formerly lived; but we heard today, Walter & family is coming to Hecker, in that house & Frank is going to move to New Athens. Pap bought plow & harrow etc. & we all went to get it this evening with truck. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed for supper, it was so late when they came back.

Thursday, Sept. 26, 1935

Rain all day. No Sparta fair today. Ed Pabst brought the potatoes this morning; quite a few, about 8 bus. Rose sewed a jumper for Billy. Loyd Pabst & Alvin Voges is working in the Eagle Stove Foundry at Belleville now.

Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1935

Pap & Rose cut corn, Bert baked bread; had chicken dinner. this afternoon dug potatoes, over 2 bus. & ½ bucket sweet potatoes, nice big ones. Mrs. Louis Miller is being buried at Belleville this afternoon, Cora Armstutz’s aunt, & Ida Heyl’s also. Hy. Euchelmann Jr. is giving a birthday dance at Coxeyville to nite, Moonlight Orc. case beer given as attendance prize. Showers in school hall here for Rosella Braun & Angela Eichenseer, given by sisters, & Sodality girls & there brothers. Mr. & Mrs. Steve Renneker came over this evening while.
