Henry & papa went out horse trading today, Knabs & Belleville & Okawville; didn’t buy so far. The rest of the family stayed here, had dinner & lunch. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were also up this afternoon. Laurence Allard’s oldest son 13 yrs drowned in a pond while boat riding, was buried this morn, at Prairie Du Roch.

We went out to Uncle Fred’s, had dinner & supper. Henry’s family came over to in the afternoon, they went up to Knob’s, horse trader. Hecker ball team won at Prairie Du Rocher.

Ascenscion [sic] Day, Holiday. We went to mass at 6 o’clock. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came. The school children of Red Bud & some other schools are having an outing at Fort Chartres today, ice cream etc. Cool this morning & smoky. We went to Freeburg to see Classen. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening, we went down to Red Bud, the doctor wasn’t at home, then went to Miss Belle Lambert, no body home there either, so we took the new hard road & drove down to Baldwin, over the river, it is awful dangerous, it is 8 mis. from Red Bud, so went we came back, went by Miss Belle again, then they were home, just got back from St. Louis on the bus; talked awhile, then went home, grape juice & cookies were served by Miss Mary. Seen in the paper a man by Prairie du Rocher, had a quarrel with his wife, then drank gasoline & shot himself funeral Sat.

Uncle Fred came a little while, then they went home. Rosa & Berti went to church, late mass, took Helfrich’s kids along. Papa stayed home, has a very bad cough. Mr. Laurent’s of Prairie Du Rocher came & looked at our heifers but wouldn’t pay that much for them. It rained last night & turned to snow; the paper said for to be 18 degrees; one day hot, next cold again, some weather, lot of people got cabbage plants set out. They say Lester Brun’s is going to build a house on the lot ¾ acre from Levi Gregson, what he bought, pretty far of the hard road, where there is a well there already, he will built 28 x 32, Levi told Uncle Fred. Today is passion Sun, had Holy Hour after mass this morn.

Papa got crushing done. We went to Waterloo paid Wiehl for 165 bus. 55 lb. corn $41.65. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here. It is such a beautiful day, like spring. Cleveland sawed wood. Mres. Aruleia [sic – Aurelia] Allard of Prairie Du Rocher, nee Parrot, died last Sun, in Red Bud hospital, they have a store; leaves Mrs. Parrot & 3 child & sister.

Papa sowed wheat, Rosalia got crushing done. Hy. Meng got our mule, & worked him. We went to Red Bud to Waterloo, got glass put in chev; seen where 2 cars, that smashed this morn, by Donahue’s on R. 3, one came from St. Louis, that was Connor’s from Prairie Du Rocher, he was out on an all nite party, & was sleeping they say went the accident happened, at 6 o clock this morn, the other car was going to E. St. Louis. 7 persons where injured, 6 broken legs & in Red Bud Hospital, the cars look asight, all smashaed, total wreck, Nobbe has the cars. There is an all nite dance at Oak Groves & 20 Wedding Anniversary dance at Brezzy Hill, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Crook; musci [sic] by Moonlighters.

We where at church. Henry came to Red Bud to around Palls corner, he went to church to, then him & papa went to Prairie Du Rocher again by Laurent to look at his mare & colt again. Ed. Schilling & Forness was published second time, & Auther [sic – Arthur] Moehrs Red Bud & Isabella Kalmer Tiptown first time. Gregson’s stoped [sic] in as they went home from church & brought a t puzzle; we worked it out already; if it is right we don’t know. Ralph Etling came & paid balance on Int. $25.85 it is now paid for 1932. We ate lunch by Uncle Freds this afternoon. Tiptown & Heckers ball team played today in the new diamond here in town. now, Hecker won 5 to 6. We drove out to Henry’s to look at the mare & cold that he traded on his cow, they wasn’t at home, so we went back again, drove out to the cemetery, around the prairie home; Uncle Fred’s went to Hy. Birkner’s birthday. We went up to Kabureck’s dance this evening, oh! boy & a good time, lot of people, hall was crowded, Rheinhardt furnished musci [sic]. The road men worked at Schender’s today, leveing [leveling?] that all of along there the road looks so much different, the hills cut down nearly all level there.

Deocration [sic] Day. We worked our truck patch & garden this morning. The St. Augustine Parish have pinic [sic] this afternoon & evening. There is School Pinic [sic] at Waterloo at the Kniting Mill Park. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came for the church pinic [sic], Miss Keller & Miss Kuhn stopped in awhile then went out to Aunt Mary’s for dinner. Bill Freund was here for supper, then we all went up to the pinic [sic] to, didn’t win anything, Mamie got a nice quilt. The Prairie Du Rocher band played.

Rosalia & Bertille went out to Henrys washed 2 weeks wash, quilts, worked garden had lunch, dinner, lunch. Laurent from Prairie Du Rocher, & papa came out to look at Henry’s cow he had to trade, didn’t make no trade though, then they went to Uncle Freds, made no trade there either, Henry bought a sheep from him yesterday for .50¢ & old one. Ed Scheinder cut our hay around here, & is going to make it on shares. There was a guy here from below Red Bud, wanted to buy horses. Mr. Philip Wuertz & Ted where here got some more hay. Mrs. Rennecker is 61 yrs. old today. Wagner & Lauts went.

We went to Red Bud, & to Ratz’s looked at a horse. Henry & family where up for dinner, & supper. Papa, Henry & boys went to Prairie Du Rocher to looked at horse & colt. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went down to the bridge, & from there came here, had supper, then went home came back again & went to the play in St. Augustine’s Hall school children, gave one Adm. 35¢. We went over to Wagner’s awhile, Rob & Olive Laut came too. Ed Schilling & Mary Furnace where published for the first time in Red Bud, & Waterloo. Miss Frieda Keim, Pete Keim’s daughter & Oscar Jatho, ran of to Belleville & where married last Thurs. afternoon by the squire, he had been going to instructions. Hecker ball team played Floraville at Hecker & won 23 to 3 in favor of Hecker, they won every game so far this season.
