Holiday. Went to 6 o’clock mass at Red Bud. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped awhile after church, they have 13 hr. Devotion today. Bill [Klein] & Bertille went to Belleville, ordered wall of paper & went to E. St. Louis & St. Louis on business, stopped a few min’s at Uncle Ed’s shop. got a tarpaulin at Child’s for Leo 14 x 20 – $9.13 with tax. Dr. Werth have a baby girl. Orlin Skaer’s have a boy at Red Bud hospital; Ethel Prediger is home again from Belleville hospital, going to call there girl Madeline.

Nice day but hot. Mayme Prickett is appointed post office clerk while Len Mertz has gone on a trip to Omaha Neb. So many sales this afternoon Prediger’s, Friedrich, town sale Schrieber Red Bud. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came, we all went to Red Bud, to Schrieber’s sale. We went to Leo’s this eve. cut lawn, cut pickles etc. they had intended coming down.

We all had dinner here today. Mrs. Ralph Prediger, nee Ethel Parker was operated for appendix Mon. of last week. Elmer Probst & Lorretta Kraft married today; wedding dance tonite at Brezzy Hill. Arthur Cowell’s boy was married Fri; dance at Log Cabin. Clara Wagner & Mrs. Joe Watchel came to see the baby [Rosalia’s baby – Marita Orlet] this morn. Mr. Geo Haudrich & Elmer came Sat. got the mare $135, for Elmer.

Ralph Prediger & Ethel Parker were married here, Paul & Agnes Parker attendants; dance at Daab’s Club House, had no invitation.

Predigar is being buried at New Athens Catholic church & cemetery from the home of his grandmother Weber’s. Steve Renneckers Agnes Gregson’s birthdays today. We went berry picking after lunch got about 7 gallon’s; gave some to Henry’s & Aunt Mary. had dinner at Henry’s. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, had lunch here. We canned 2 qts berries & made the rest in jelly. Rose & Bert went to Mamie’s this evening, went sightseeing through town. Ivo Buehler was brought home from the hospital today, is pretty good.

We washed, nice cool. Ronnenberg’s moving today. Mrs. Jake Staufenbiel nee Prediger of St. Louis died Fri. night, funeral Tues. morning. We all put in a free guess to how many strokes it would take to bust an inner tube yesterday. Berti guessed 1400. Henry came & papa went along, looking at horses. Wm. Probst, Nic Schaefer, at Ames, & etc., he had lunch here. Rose finished my dress today. The directors & Henry are to meet at the Blackburn’s school tonite- see about school.
