Primary Election. Bert [Bertille] went to Henry’s, cleaned front room & stretched curtains; ironed etc. Henry & Leona went to vote. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary were up, making or cleaning garden. Got Chicago Mail Ord. today had to send shoes back to large; Beautiful day awful warm 72 at noon. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] brought truck back; hauled it Belleville calf & hog.

Cloudy this morning, but is nice again. Rose finished her dresses, & we cleaned front room, washed windows put on screens, cut lawn for the first time. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this afternoon, planted out cabbage plants etc. Primary Election today, we didn’t go to vote. Pap & Henry hauled wood all day. A fellow from Belleville looked at the oats, but didn’t take any Boul was his name, Henry bought a pig from him for $9. Henry Hepp was here wanted to borrow lime dust spreader; going to get it tomorrow. Hy. Feurer was here wanted to know if Pabst rented the ground again, if not he take it. Arlene Klotz daughter of Gus Klotz was taken to Belleville Hospital this morning, & was operated on appendix at 11:30, she is sick since Sat. evening, had no bowels moving since; Uncle Fred got a letter from Baldwin saying they should get there gas engine what they bought at her sale, & they wasn’t even at the sale of Mrs. Muench on Mar. 21 last. They have ball games on radio every day.

Mr. Ziebold, retired miller was buried at Waterloo yesterday, awful large funeral, business places were all closed. Papa hauled posts, helped Henry this afternoon to cut some logs & haul. Cleveland helped too. Berti washed Chev. Seeley worked in garden. Our baby chicks didn’t come yet. Mr. Walter Lehr brought them this evening 209 chicks @ 7½. $15.50, all. The new Hospital in Chester which has been remodeled will now be called Riverview Hospital. Mr. Martin May has sold property to Charles & Anna Hasnedle – twp. 4-9-$1500.00. The primary election turned out with the winners Chas. Wehmeier. Dem. Co. Judge & Reb. Judge Scheinder; For Sup. of Schools; Zimmer had 26 votes & Wm. Weigand received 1 vote but wasn’t running; several others ran for Supt. Mr. & Mrs. Henry Gruber of Waterloo moved to the farm of Mrs. All. Gregson. Cyrus Hill & family moved to Waynesville Mo. where he has gained a position. Mrs. Steiger, Lena Birkners great grandma died this eve. about 6 o clock, will be buried Sun. afternoon 1 o clock at “Lords Corner;” she would of been 100 yrs. old in May, she was blind & couldn’t hear for a good while.

Papa went up in woods. Willie Ganley is going to haul logs this morning. Started the fire in brooder house, Thurs. our chicks come. Mrs. George Haudrich got operated on appendix & tumor & is in a serious condition in Hospital at Belleville. The Sewing Club of Red Bud are giving a euchre, 500 & lotto tonite in the parish hall. Mr. Emil Rubel was here counted the pigs to see if it corresponce [sic] with that contract. Mrs. Rennecker brought some flower over, dalias [sic] etc. Clara Wagner & kids were here awhile. Gus Frisch came wanted to see if pap was going to vote. Today is Primary Election. We cooked kettle soap, cleaned upstairs. We went to the euchre, didn’t get no prizes. Bert had 8 points but no prizes. Bobby Cowell received attendance prize a small rug. The quilt was won by Mr. & Mrs. Joe Mauer’s youngest child.

We washed, this afternoon we went out to Henry’s again, cleaned the front room; had lunch there. Ed Neff the assessor was here this morning; today is primary election. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where up this afternoon made a little garden. We went out there this eve. took the plow home.
