Nice day but windy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, had dinner & supper, he helped haul logs, him & pap got them out & Henry hauled over to Schilling’s. A man here selling lawn spray’s kills dandelions & all weeds, & helps grass to grow, $1.95 gal. Fr. Aydt is trying it out he said. Christ Buehler & Ivo plowed here today, finished the patch by the house here, he brought 8 doz. eggs along @ 20¢ for setting, we set 12 hens tonite, also with the 4 duck eggs, that I said week ago. All Rhode Island Reds. Aunt Mary helped Bert [Bertille] sew her dress today, a print one.

Tuesday, April 13, 1937

Rained last nite. We went to Belleville took 2 hogs in the last ones, got $9.95 – 440 lbs; hogs coming down rapidly. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this eve. awhile. Vic Eichenseer fixed our pump, this eve. Pap went to Christ Buehler’s got 7 doz. eggs for setting 20¢ doz. Rhode Island Reds. Henry & Leo chixs all came today, all was alright this time.

Saturday, Sept. 20, 1930

Papa went up town and got Vic. Eichenseer to put a new valve in the tank in the basement so now it works again.  Then Papa took him back again.  Rosalia & Papa went out to Henry’s to get a load of wheat.  After dinner he took the wheat down to Red Bud, then it went out to B. W. Weld’s sale 3 miles south of Waterloo on the hard road, his son was doing the farming & he is a plumber.  Harry Kammler is having a dance tonight.  One of our Rhode Island Reds laid one egg today.  Papa bought some chicken coops at the sale.  There sure was a crowd in Hecker at the dance the streets were all lined up with cars.
