Beautiful day. Bill Fritsche look & fix our furnace. Pap went up in woods, got load corn fodder. Frank Kroll wanted to see him, about lots at cemetery, so he had to go out there. Henry Schaefer of Waterloo died, to be buried tomorrow, at Hecker cemetery. Fr. Aydt to have mass at Waterloo at 10′ o clock then out to cemetery, there is 3 funeral masses at Waterloo, 2 are Stackels, one being Hy. Emery’s father in law, & Schaefer. Joe Gregson & Lester bought 2 acres of land from Wil. Harbaugh, $800.00, going to operate & build a filling station, it is already staked of. We went to Belleville this afternoon, pap went to dentist again.

Lincoln’s birthday. We went out to Henry’s butchering; killed 2 hogs. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary helped too. Clara Wagner brought the cheese dish back, & ordered butter again. Raining tonite. The Altar Sodality is having a euchre tonite in school hall; we didn’t go. There is a masquerade ball in Smithon [sic]. Miss Adelle Probst & Floyd Quirin were married at Millsdalt [sic] this morning; her mother nee (Mary Henkel), a private reception at Daabs Club House. Schoenborn, Schaefer & B Schilling muscianers [sic] playing for the dance. Iowa is having terrible weather 25 below zero; people dying from cold, eggs raised 6¢ there. Mr. Otto Wagner of near Red Bud died yesterday will be buried Fri morning 9:30 at Catholic Church & cemetery, Clarence dad.

Fried down bacon & sausage. Send a order to Chicago Mail Order for shoes, felts for pap. Today Barbara Schoenborn of Paderborn working at Belleville & Roos are being married at the Catherdral [sic] at Belleville, dance at Daab’s Club House tonite, musci [sic] by Clem Rheinhardt & Gus Schaefer & Jake Schoenborn. & Joe Freund & Viola Einwich have a double birthday dance at Pautler’s, musci [sic] by Moonlighters, Gents 25 ladies free & goose as attendance prize, he send Berti a invitation card. Hy. Armstutz brought load corn. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this evening & took Rose & Berti along, went to Pautlers to the birthday dance; Lanking won the goose, but he has so many; so they gave him $1.50; 1 kept the goose; pretty nice crowd.

Went to Red Bud. Out to Uncle Fred’s dinner & supper. It rained a nice shower. Joe Griffin was annouced [sic] for 3rd time but the wedding was postponed, Mrs. Griffin is very low at present. Pete Kaiser had a head on collision car is total wreck, last Sun. at Belleville, 5 persons, were all taken to the hospital, he didn’t know nothing for 2 hrs. had a fractured skull; but is pretty good now. Holy Name Conference for men at Trenton today. We went to Paderborn to Totch’s to a free dance; & Boy! it started in to rain. Oh My!! the crowd started to leave, sure did have a crowd. Schoenborn & Schaefer played musci [sic]. Totsch’s served hot rump corn beef sandwiches. Kraemer & boys of Millsdadt, were going to fight, a constable made order, quite a few were feeling good. Geo. Mueth fell down outside, long as he was.

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, we went along with them to Columbia to the Homecoming, had a wonderful time seen the parade, was interntained [sic] by Jimmie & Dick Radio stars, boy! they were good; danced free in afternoon. came home, ate supper, then went to Totch’s at Paderborn. Boy! what a time fish & chicken fry; free dancing day & nite Schoenborn & Schaefer playing ; & large crowd; Hillsheim & Gus Frish were there advertising, the church pinic [sic] for Wed. Goe Griffin & Tillie Hafley were published 1st time.

Holiday. Went to Red Bud 6 o clock mass. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had lunch & dinner, this afternoon we all went to Belleville, we got spring hats white one. Took chances on Smithon [sic] Catholic Church pinic [sic], on Sept. 2; on 12 articles from Mrs. Schaefer. Went to Renneckers awhile. Gus Klotz & family came to.

Baked bread. Papa went to Waterloo to get tires for the Whippet. 2 $21.67 – 6 ply. We went to Belleville this afternoon; pretty warm again. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this afternoon, threshing machines started in today. Joe Schilling & George Schaefer’s, Grossheins all threshing. Eggs 19¢.

Holiday. Boy! the cars going down. Papa went to see Schaefers & Wm. Ganley. this afternoon him & Rose went out to Henry’s. Hilda is out there, she has 2 weeks vacation now. Jo Keller was by Lizzie Boll’s all day, came here for supper, stayed awhile. We went to Geo. Wagner’s this evening, kids had a few spit devil firecrackers. Sister Angelonia, Frank Mueth daughter, & Mrs. Vic Eichenseer’s sister died at Alton this morning, after an operation of 18 days; will be buried tomorrow morning at Indiania [sic]. Sure hot today again; at noon.

Raining all morning. Papa went to Hecker to see Osie Neff, took 12 doz. eggs along. Jake Neff was here last nite, short while on business. Nic Schaefer came paid $10.00 rest of the hay looked at colt. Sunshine this afternoon, nice day. Papa went down to see Chris Buehler. Ralph Collier stopped in. Mr. Ed Pabst came, told papa he measured the land by Kunkelman’s for wire fence; also looked at the colt, taught [sic – thought] it was awful nice. We went to bed about 7 o’clock, slept it out Oh Boy.
