Patched. Went to Belleville. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came up, went to euchre in School hall, given by Altar Sodality. Leo & Rose [Rosalia] came brought there mollasses [sic] down to Hy. Armstutz $1 gal. we played pinochle; warmer again today. Euchre in Waterloo tonite.

Uncle Fred birthday; 63 yrs. today. They came up butchered 139 lb. hog @ $8.40; finished at 1 ‘oclock, sausage out of kettle & everything done. Harry Wittenauer stopped in. The Farm Bureau have meeting & show tonite & school hall. Smithton have euchre. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came this eve. & Bert [Bertille] went along to picture show in school hall, big crowd, showed pictures of 4h. club; from all over the county. Miss Werner of Hecker, leader of Busy Bee Club, has the most in county. Buddy Braun was here selling chances on box candy.

Raining all day. Bert [Bertille] baked cookies, Eggs 16¢. Henry, Leona & Billy [Willis] were up, Henry went to dentist Dr. Lark, here in town. The Young People Ladies Sodality are giving a pinochle & euchre party tonite, in school hall. Bert went had 7 points, didn’t win nothing Ray Wittenauer won pillow cases attendance prize; crowd wasn’t so large, weather & roads spoiled it, had nice prizes; lot of pillow cases.

We washed, cleaned basement, fried in meat etc. Bert got mailed Christmas cards from J. Keller, Fr. Stern, First National Bank at Waterloo. Berti got a punch for a 5 lb. box candy by Mertz paid .03. Name Dorthy. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped here, then went to the school children’s play in School Hall.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had dinner & supper here, we sawed wood up in the field this afternoon. Geo. Schilling sawed, & J. Mueth, Walter Braun, Ed. Mueth, Al. Cleveland, Henry, Uncle & pap. We went to the euchre at School hall, didn’t win a thing, played 10 games, had cake walk after. We had 2 chickens for dinner.

Berti ironed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up had dinner here; Joe Griffin was here talking radios, Uncle Freds, going to get one like ours now, getting tomorrow, from J. Griffin $21.- there old radio. Nun from Marrisa was here wanted to buy oats. The Farm Bureau has euchre in Red Bud tonite in the school hall there. Clara Wagner has a quilt in for the firemen’s, Rose helped this afternoon. Cecelia Pour & Harold Eichenseer have the mumps; now.

Went to church. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stayed awhile then went home, came back again this eve. for the play in the school hall, we went up to name of the play “Regiment of 2,” Lawrence Kaiser, Chas Schilling, Al Coop, Paul & Lorraine Wittenauer, Lee Gregson, Bessie Parker, & Agnes, & Edith & Dorthy Klinkhardt; was good & hall was packed. Schmidts Orch. played between acts; also tap Dancing. S. Rennecker got milk. Ben Schilling was here this evening.

Rose went out to Henrys brought there wash along so we washed ironed again, also quilted, Burgdorf looked at heifers. Bert & Rose went to the euchre in School Hall, Lizzie Boll got pillow slips attendance prize; Rose got box stationary had 9 points Bert only had 7.
Monday, Nov. 11, 1935
We washed, cleaned things for butchering. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary stopped awhile, then went up to the Armistice Wustmark [sic- Wurstmart], dinner & supper at the School Hall, every family has to bring a cake; & donations to pay for the rest of the eatable, cafeteria style 25¢ plate; had a pretty nice crowd. It rained nearly all night.
