Pap had dinner at Henry’s again, finished all but 1 load for Henry yet. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, she was by Staufenbiel’s & he got load rock in woods, & cut his lawn across the street, we cleaned dining room & kitchen. Zita Carrol is going to move her furniture over to E. St. Louis tomorrow, Eichenseer’s truck. Mr. Fred Grohmann of Douglas shot himself Thurs. evening going to be buried tomorrow, leaves his wife Annie nee (Herzog) & 5 sons; all of around Smithon [sic]. Mr. Ed Rehling has a new plymouth sedan; Dr. Wagner was here wanted to get about 6 bus. oats, this evening maybe, when pap home.

Went to 8 o’clock service at Red Bud; then again at 12 till 3 o’clock, there are Devotions. Felicia Rascow came along up to Hecker, with us yesterday to got to Mrs. Staufenbiel, & went along back to Red Bud with us this morning. Roth of Brickey was buried at Round Praire [sic] cemetery this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Leo Kohler of Waterloo have a baby girl born at St. Marys Hospital.

We washed, ironed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up, he & papa went up to work in the woods again, had supper here. Aunt Mary & Rose went over to see Mrs. Staufenbiel, Aunt took goods over for her to make a dress. Levi & Jack Ganley got 2 loads hay; Mr. Jake Erle stopped in. A fellow here form Muryphsboro [sic] selling apples, Aunt Mary bought 1 pk. Sure cold this morning 28° above; ground froze hard last nite.

Nice day, Rose has a swollen cheek, but doesn’t hurt & don’t get any larger, guess it is the mumps. Uncle Fred went to Waterloo to get his car fixed, she stayed here, her & Bertie went to see Wm. Birkner’s, & to Minnie Staufenbiel. Joe Griffin came looked at the radio, the B. batteries are shot, & A. is good, he put in new ones, going to take the others to Belleville, get them looked after. Uncle Adam rested pretty good last nite pap came home at 5:30, him & Emil stayed up all nite; Josie went home, Clara is coming this morning again. Josie has a sore leg. Rob. Lauts family was here this evening; had radio.

Papa got hair cut; he went up to the crusher to see Roy Staufbiel. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came, brought basket pickles along, they went to Red Bud to the sale of the late Mrs. Con Dehn. Bert went to town got 25¢ for eggs. The Dupo pinic [sic] which was supposed to be today is posponed [sic] till Thurs; we have chance on winning a Ford V8 there. Leona came up & Billy [Willis]. We & Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to Donahue’s to Herman Wolf’s wife’s birthday dance & may what a crown, Au Buchon’s family Orchestra.

Baked bread. Papa went to Belleville. Tipton congregation had chicken supper yesterday; & Mr. Walsh student of Holy Priesthood here selling papers, we took it Catholic Extension Magazine $3.00 yr. rosary with it. he is selling that, to help the missions. Henry came & cut & raked hay. had dinner & lunch. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up this evening she got her dress from Mrs. Staufenbiel’s. Sure hot 105 this aternoon. The Waterloo paper has that while Clyde Crowe was playing ball Sun. afternoon, in running after a foul ball, his pants caught fire, but it was put out & no damage was done; & another guy stepped on a rabbit & killed it some exciting ball game they lost track of the score. Harrisonville won all both game here with Hecker last Sun.

Henry & papa went to Red Bud to see Ratz. Baked cookies canned 5½ qts beets & 1 can beans; had chicken dinner. There was a car went by just like a train, from Hollywood; Motion Picture Studio. was very pretty. an airplane flew south west real low this morn. Papa went out to help Henry cut oats again, the Whip. stopped coming home on the other side of town, he called for Rose to come, pull him in now it works again. had lunch out there. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, she & Berti went over to Minnies Staufenbiels, tried her dress; they had lunch here, & she went back over there again. Celestine Neff is working for Mrs. Mertz taking care of the baby Mrs. she is help out in the store, when the mail comes in.

Went to Red Bud, celebrated Corpus Christi; mass, today. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary, Henry & family were all here for supper. Papa & Henry went to Evansville to see Volkmann’s, about horses. We took pictures this afternoon. Aunt Mary & Rose went to Staufenbiels.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Rose went to Belleville had dinner here. Mr. Hartman of Red Bud looked at the colt etc. The Puro Product man was here; Wangelein of Belleville was here & bought dairy mare for $30.00, got it this evening. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up again brought yeast along. Koestine’s on Reheis place have a little baby boy. Lester Gregson is being sued for an automobile accident, which happened a good while back. Berti took Mrs. Staufbiel’s pattern back again.

Ironed patched, cleaned little chick house. Rose went to Red Bud to Zipfel to get chick feed. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came this afternoon, him & papa went to Waterloo on business; cut Rosalia’s dress out. Aunt Mary & Rose went over to Mrs. Staufenbiels to get patterns. Bertille got chain letter from Mrs. S. Heller St. Louis today & sent it on again. Mr. Jim Purtle, was buried at Red Bud church & cemetery this morn, from the home of his son George, aged 92 yrs. made his home with a daughter of St. Louis; was a very large funeral; Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary had supper here, wanted to stay for church, but it started in to rain, they then went home.
