Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner, lunch. It is rather warm again today. We went early to church, had a blow out coming home close to Chas Helfrichs, changed tires & came on. Fred Papenberg got a new chev & Oscar Birkners a used Ford, all close cars. There must be some thieves around Hecker, Hugo Probst got $10 stolen, Wagners got all the ripe & green plums stolen. Lester Gregson moved from the Gambach place to his own that he bought on East Main St. & Mr. & Mrs. Willie Gregson moved in Gambach property. We had our first roasting ears corn for dinner. The pallbearers from Aunt Lizzie where, Emil Brand, Ben Schilling, Hy Eichelman, Edwin & Willie Reheis, Fred Wiegand. The Heyl’s relatives have basket pinic [sic] at the Round Prairie Park, in honor of Mrs. Kessler from Alba. The threshing crew of Oscar Klotz’s have chicken bouilion, at Sam Krehers woods. It is in the paper that Lavern Koerber 23 & Irene Neff 21 where married at Red Bud by Rev. Stern in Catholic parsonage, Mary Havey & Paul Neff where attendats; last Wed. Roller skates & bicycle riding is the latest in Hecker at present. Mr. Rettinhouse is very bad expecting to live only couple days. We have 2 qts tomatoes canned so far, Mrs. John Reheis has 28 qts. & ain’t near finished yet.

We washed, ironed. George Wagner brought our [illegible] back this morning. Henry came up with the team, & took our Whip & got 2 loads of coal & put them in the wagon here papa used his team so long working corn; he had lunch & dinner here. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, cut Bert’s dress out. It sure is nice & cool today, beautiful. Mr. & Mrs. Herman Goessling have a little baby girl born Fri. nite; she was Adalia Wagner, she is pretty bad sick, had Fr. Aydt out there. Stern was called out some where.

Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here for dinner & supper. Henry & family where also here for supper. A Swap Store man came our from Belleville & looked at our organ, took it along in trade for a dresser. Uncle Adams picture was in yesterdays paper that he will be 84 yrs. old May 6. We went to Waterloo this evening, closing of the 40 hrs. Adoration; Fr. Adyt & Stern & good many other priests.

We finished ironing. Papa went to Hecker to order his license, & pay Whip. Ins. It rained last night & pretty much too. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came here this evening before the euchre, they stopped at Fr. Aydts first & talked with him. They went to the euchre & pinochle in the School Hall, took a bucket filled with popcorn has a prize. Fr. Stern & cook was up too.

We went to Red Bud. Fr. Stern read of the annual report this morn. They now have service & instruction on Sun. afternoons. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary where here awhile. Ex president Calvin Coolige [sic – Coolidge] died Thurs. Jan. 5; heart stroke. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary went to see Mr. & Mrs. Louis Birkner, she is better now, she had a stroke awhile back; heart stopped beating on the way over to Kern’s, & she fell on the ground. Emerys found her took her to there house till the doctor come. Mamie & Clarence came down this evening, played dominoes.
