Went to mass. Arelia [? – unclear] Pours 31 yr. birthday today. Tipton parish is having a wurstmarkt at Donahues this afternoon & evening. Uncle Fred & pap went over awhile. A. [Aunt] Mary went to church & meeting. Bert [Bertille] went to see Renneckers; they had supper here. Bill & Bert went to his mothers, her birthday; Booby & his girlfriend were also there, we popped corn, had grape juice, pie etc; played cards, pinochle & euchre.

Raining this morn; pretty heavy rain to. Today is funeral at Waterloo of Andrew Dietz of Burksville & Mrs. Walsh at Tipton – Vincent mother; & Mrs. Kroll to be tomorrow morn. at Hecker, all at Quernheims parlor. We went to Waterloo this afternoon, took wheat in got 70 [cents] bus. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped, he went to Red Bud, & she went to Buehler’s. Warm this evening.

Went to Tipton to 75 Diamond Jubliee [sic] & pinic [sic] of parish; we had our dinner there; & tasted sure good wasn’t so much of a crowd; about 15 priests; sure had beautiful quilts. There is a school pinic [sic] at Waterloo, church pinic [sic] at Dupo & Columbia School pinic [sic]. Hecker has bingo party tonite. Leo & family came this eve; Pap went along with them pinic [sic].

Cloudy & still cold wind, rained heavy again last nite. Pap was by Emil awhile this morn. He said that wasn’t so that Mrs. Threfall was married, he back out. There was about 12 cars & 5 trucks loads people went by yelling etc; guess they went over to city for ball game which is now going on over there, starting last Mon. Wild of Waterloo sale cryer passed away, being sick just a week. Levi Gregson’s & Emil attended Tipton euchre last Wed. nite reported having had such a good time, arriving home at 4:30. Temperatures these days being around 40 [degrees] & raining.

Nice day. Went to the funeral of, Tom Crowe at Waterloo, wasn’t very large. Pallbearers were Levi Ganley, Joe Mueth, Fred Reheis, Ben Schilling, Emil Geodelle, Jeff Payne. German band played for a whole bunch of Paderborn. Neff & Karban’s, Cortner’s also for me & Bill Klein, all boys & girls, & said from St. Louis. Alfred May & guy were here this afternoon. We went to Tipton to see Farago. Willie & John Braun were here again for signing & leasing oil ground again. Leo & family & Bill [Klein] came this eve. Bert [Bertille] fixed Roses [Rosalia] hair.

Nice day. We went out on trip, back Tipton. Pap went to Myerscough’s this afternoon. Bert [Bertille] baked cookies. Eggs 24 [cents].

Windy, not as hot. Bert [Bertille] sewed lettuce etc. Baked cream pie. Euchre & card party at Paderborn tonite; Bert [Bertille] went got dish, playing bluey had 2 games; Hy Kettler played for dance, not very much, no crowd. Elmer Parker, & Vincent Klein, have a birthday dance at Kammler’s tonight; Jake Schoenborn played Adm. 25 [cents] pretty good crowd. Rained a little this eve. Awful dust storm this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Perry May were here this eve; till 11:30. The Wedding that was here at Hecker, by Fr. Aydt last Tues morn, was Walter Kunkel & Brauch girl. Joe daughter, both of Tipton, never were published, are anything, May said that. Harry Wittenauer was here this afternoon; on business.

Pap got crushing done. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came this afternoon, pap went along with them to sale, by Valmeyer, & at Tipton – Joe Lengyl; bought crocks. 1-4 gl – 2- 2 gals. – 1 gal. 65 [cents] cheap. Bert [Bertille] went to Rose’s [Rosalia], cut lawn etc. Leo worked the horse this afternoon. Weber of Smithton, was here on business. Radio isn’t very good this eve.

Pap went up in woods, came home for dinner & went up again this afternoon. Geo. Wagner came over to get eggs we didn’t have none to sell, only got 1 doz. Some people here from Smithton selling beef, didn’t buy none. Berneice brought 5 [cents] over for eggs for Mehrmann, they were 21 [cents] last week he said. Mr. & Mrs. Arch. Whiel have baby born born Jan. 10 – St. Mary Hospital, now have boy & girl. Mr. & Mrs. Frank Hoffmann of Tipton have a baby boy born Jan. 9 also at St. Mary’s Hospital; have a boy & girl now.

Foggy day again. Bert [Bertille] washed. Emil came over awhile this morn. Pap & him walked up to Frank Emery’s funeral this afternoon 2 o’clock services at house; then to city cemetery, he was 63 yrs. of age. had been ruptured some time ago; Pallbearers were Vic Eichenseer, Jac. Neff, Steve Rennecker, Oscar Klotz, Adolph Lother, Bill Fritsche. Wagner boy’s came got 4 doz. eggs for Mehrmann 25 [cents] today. Mrs. Bill Kaiser was taken to hospital in ambulance yesterday, double pneumonia, for 6 days; had Dr. Frein & nurse out yesterday also. Mr. Martin Fritsche here in town also has double pneumonia; so much sickness around & real weather for it to. Miss Kate McDermott who was making her home in St. Louis past while, suffered stroke Sun. morn, was taken to Red Bud hospital, were there she died, will be buried tomorrow morn, at Tipton church & cemetery at Koch [? – unclear]. Wagner’s family came this eve; we play 7 games pinochle, ladies winning every game.
