Holiday. Went to 6 o’clock mass at Red Bud. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary stopped awhile after church, they have 13 hr. Devotion today. Bill [Klein] & Bertille went to Belleville, ordered wall of paper & went to E. St. Louis & St. Louis on business, stopped a few min’s at Uncle Ed’s shop. got a tarpaulin at Child’s for Leo 14 x 20 – $9.13 with tax. Dr. Werth have a baby girl. Orlin Skaer’s have a boy at Red Bud hospital; Ethel Prediger is home again from Belleville hospital, going to call there girl Madeline.

Awful hot. Ironed, patched. Uncle Fred & A. [Aunt] Mary came for church pinic [sic], they have to be in winner stand. J. Keller came got eggs, tomatoes; we went up to pinic [sic] this eve. Ray Wittenauer won set dishes. Doval Eichenseer 48 lbs. flour. Alice Hess – 100 sugar, Elmer Haudrich taspestory [sic – tapestry] quilt to Mrs. Burke St. Louis, awful crowd, Smithton band, played musci [sic] . Leo & Rose [Rosalia] & baby [Marita] came this eve; pinic [sic]. Mrs. Merhmann came wanted eggs. Chas. Dougherty (Elvira Haudrich) have twins, Aug. 5. girl & boy; 6 3/4 lbs. each; 1st. set of twin that Dr. Werth & Helwig caught; doing fine now.

Cleaned bedroom; nice warm. Uncle Fred & A. Mary came this afternoon. We went out to Henry’s this eve; They had school pinic [sic] out there, last for this term; after they got home, Floyd fell on ground rail, & broke his arm, same one were he cut his finger of yr. ago now; they took him to Dr. Werth, he set it now, but wants them to go to Stallmann & have an exray [sic] taken of it. he says he didn’t fall hard just stumble, broke both bones, a piece up from the wrist. Geodelle’s were also out this eve; it pains quite a bit he says. After we got home Leo & Rose came yet, also Jake & Fred Schaefer, stayed a little while; they brought there eggs to store.

Ironed patched. Went to Waterloo, got AAA Wheat check $5.16. A guy selling or sharpening work, to earn for his dinner, we had none. Cold sun shining. Hill has in Waterloo paper, it is rumored, that Omer Schilling & Lucella [sic.- Lucille] Brand to be married in near future some mistake, he better quite [sic – quit] writing in news, anyway to put in false reports, such as that one is. Boy Boy. Dr. Werth’s have a little baby boy at St. Marys Hospital in E. St. Louis.

Went to Red Bud. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary were up for dinner; then went home, rain all day & last night, terrible wind storm & rain. Dr. Jo. Werth of Waterloo & girl of Stanton were married Mon.

Canned 8 qt. corn, took just ½ bu. Clara Wagner was here. The road workers started working in town today. Chas. Jung was here bought 27 lb. springs 9¢ lb. A little baby boy was born at Henry’s this evening at 7 o clock, 10 lbs. Dr. Werth’s & Mrs. Geodelle came there.

We cooked a kettle of soap again. eggs 9¢. We cut lawn, put out a sign for sale, eggs & hens. A lady around selling extracts again today, we didn’t buy anything. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary came up, her, Rose & Bert went to church. Hy. Wedel Jr. guessed the closest to how many chevs where sold in 1932; the right number sold was 322,860 & he guessed 223,454 just 594 out of the way. They beat was Dr. Werth & H. B. Church. Wedel could either $50.59 radio huts [unclear – ed. note], or $50.00 to a purchase of a New Chev. Hecker had bus here this morning at 7,0 clock.

Josie came up for church this morn, & she came down here & brought papa glasses along, he forgot them last night, Papa is sewing clover seed. It is cloudy & cooler today. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Geodelle nee Fritz have a little baby boy Joe Jr. born Feb. 24 Friday. Mrs. Kreitner of Edison Place obtained a divorce from her husband, lawyer Eugene Kreitner, charge cruelty. The Farm Bureau Office at Waterloo is moved 2 doors west in Ruch’s building, on account lack of space. A transfer of Christian Betsman & wife to Dominic Klein in in the paper. Dr. Werth & A.A. Brandt, where purchasers of new Chev, Coupes. There where 2 fellows here looked at our mules. Uncle Fred & Aunt Mary & Josie came up for church, we played cards, 2 games.
